MYTH SHOT DOWN: higher insurance rates on aluminum bodies F150
#11
It's crazy. I think it is probably because it's so safe and they aren't expecting as much medical claims. I'm 30, and currently insuring a 2001 V6 XLT supercab 2wheel drivefor about $70 a month, with USAA. Getting a quote switching to a 2015 Lariat 4x4 raised it to about $90. $20 a month difference between a $5000 and a $50000 truck is simply amazing.
Keep a clean driving record with no claims. Once you turn 35, your premium should drop like a rock.

ins.urance drop
My insurance dropped $23 a month because of all the safety features. Blind spot and all the collision stuff. From 2009 F150 to 2015 F150

I was paying 180 a month on my 2011 f150, I bought the truck when I was 22 so I figured that's why it was so high .. Called to get insurance on my 2015 lariat being 25 now and it was 105 a month .. I was super happy about that

This was my January 6-month State Farm premium for a 2010 Lariat Scab 4x4.
As you can see, the collision part of the premium is very low, at $68.32 for 6 months, $136 a year, $11.33 a month
Just for argument, say that State Farm tripled it to $33 a month. An extra $20 a month for collision is not really a big deal, is it? And the chances of it tripling are somewhere between slim and none.
Out here, the raises in non-collision rates are more expensive than just collision alone.
Oh, it is estimated that 1 in 5 drivers here don't have insurance, so the higher cost of uninsured driver ins.
