Thought I read that the snowplow package will only be available on the 5.0.

Correct, the 5.0 and 4x4 will be required with the package. The plow itself is sold separately.

The F-150's new 2.7 'Nano' engine is such a composite of engineering features that it's difficult to grasp the significance of the engine amongst all the media attention over aluminum bodies, weight savings, non-availability of HP & TQ numbers, towing capacities, etc. With the blitz of Mustang reveals and frequent mentions of the F-150's compacted graphite iron (CGI) two-piece block, fracture split main bearing caps, etc., I found myself letting a whole bunch of engine technology go over my head without comprehending or appreciating what Ford has accomplished with the 2.7 Nano power plant. After several days of online research perusing technical papers on the above and the several other features of the Nano (too many to mention), I experienced both awe and apprehension. While none of the technologies are new to the automotive world, the assembly of so many in one GDI Ford mass produced engine is novel.

BTW, it appears that the 2.7 CGI blocks will be produced by the TUPY Foundry at Saltillo Mexico in partnership with SinterCast's process control & tech support, a very competent combo.
