Default Moonroof plastic divider loose. Issue?

Hey everyone,
Love the forum and all the advice.

I have a question about the plastic piece that sits in between the opening sunroof and the moonroof on my F150. It extends the entire opening from driver side to the passenger side (i can provide pics later if needed)

Basically, its very loose. I can touch it, and the thing will move up and down. I think it's a seal for if the roof leaks, but i would think it would be tighter on the truck.

I'll be going back to the dealer soon to have the cooled seats fixed, and have the engine noise removed also via IDS.... so curious if i need to have them fix this also.

The other side of that piece is sound dampening foam, not a sealant. Not a seal.

Same on mine and similar to previous non-ford vehicles. I think this is normal.

Default Any solution?

Any solution to this? It lets in a lot of wind noise into the cabin, compared to when pressed flush. I was thinking about double layering 3M super strength tape.

Do we have a part number for this? The panoroof diagram don't seem to list this.

This is the only thread I could find on this anywhere on the internet.

There's no "solution" because there's nothing wrong with it. As already pointed out, it's not a seal. It's just there to cover where the front and back glass meet for appearance. Thanks for using your first post to dig up a 7-year-old thread that already answered your question.

I had to have mine replaced and they list it as part of the channel to divert water to the drains if (WHEN) the seal for the glass leakes.

Do you have a part number for it? Did the replacement subdue the wind / road noise for you as expected? Thanks for sharing.

It's enough of a problem where it's letting in significant wind noise. Considering the trim is no longer straight anymore and sagging, it's worthy of one's concern. Thanks for the warm welcome though. /s

The root cause of your wind noise is still the seal on the glass. Even brand new, this item doesn't fit closely.
