Looking forward to the finished product.

If this is indeed a significant improvement to the stock IC, I'm in.

Awesome - that's great to hear. Let me know if you've got any questions along the way.

Thanks,

Will this work for both 2.7 and 3.5 trucks?

Not looking to put you on the spot and I have done no research on this yet but on a non built truck what hp/tq gains are you expecting for the 3.5? Any built in water catches for possible condensation build up? Thanks!!

Well not to burst anyones bubble but putting in an aftermarket intercooler isnt going to provide you any better cooling unless you remove the bottom louvers.. ford design them to close and keep CAC temperatures up to reduce the condensation issue... which in said just removing the louvers will drop temps substantially anywhere up to 25 degrees and thats idling in traffic and when moving temps are within 10-15 degrees of ambient.

Hey Rexey!

It is one of my main responsibilities to be "put on the spot" and answer your questions, so don't hesitate to do so! It's hard to anticipate gains before preliminary dyno testing, so I'm not going to throw anything up here yet, but I will certainly let you all know as soon as those data are available.

As far as the water issue, there is an NPT threaded bung located on the underside of the intercooler that can be unscrewed to drain condensation, or replaced with anything you might want to try - a valve of sorts, or perhaps a hole drilled in the bung to operate like a "weep hole". This will give you the option of experimenting with different solutions without having to cut/drill/weld the intercooler.

Hey Carbon,

Thanks for the input, and good point on the louvers, although its a bit more nuanced than that. Ford has been using those louvers on a lot of their vehicles lately including those without condensation problems; their stated purpose is to balance cooling requirements with aerodynamics in order to increase fuel efficiency.

I am not sure how the ECU determines when to open them and when to close them, but I will follow up on that with some of our engineers. My guess is that under hard acceleration, the louvers stay open, but I may be wrong. I can tell you that our intercooler should be a more efficient heat exchanger then stock due to its size and its design, so controlling for the louvers operating in the stock manner, our intercooler should provide an increase in power vs. stock.

Thanks for all the questions everyone!

Not sure how deep into R&D you guys are at this point but I do have a question. I'm assuming you will include a new hose kit with stronger clamps to handle the higher boost pressures. Is this in the plans as well? Also for those with aftermarket front bumpers (meant for ecoboost engines) will your design have any effect on those applications?
