Default Max Hitch Weight

What is the max hitch weight rating for an f150? My minivan is only 350. Tacoma was like 500.

Lay on your back under the hitch. There should be a tag with the details. Post a pic.

Depends on what class hitch you have. Has more to do with trailer weight that you're allowed to pull. If you know what trailer weighs you should have 10%-15% on tongue (10,000lb trailer would be 1,000-1500lbs on tongue)

Did you get max tow or trailer package?

Most F150's have hitches rated at 500lb tongue capacity w/o weight distributing hitch.

It depends on the specifics of your truck.

I could put a Class V hitch with a carrying capacity of 1200 lbs on my truck but it doesn't mean I can put 1200 lb trailer on it because my truck isn't rated for that.

Based on what I can tell, payload is the max rating of your allowed tongue weight.

Depending on the engine, tow package and cab, the hitch receiver weight will vary from 500 lbs to 1,220 lbs.

Nighthawk - Payload for your truck is listed on the sticker on the drivers door jamb. It includes no passengers, tongue weight, etc. Most F-150's fall in the 1,200-1,500lb range. The F-150's with the HD payload package are more like 2,200lb.

Aflick - The allowable tongue weight and towing capacity of the hitch is on a sticker on the bottom of the hitch. It is usually greater than the truck's rating.
