Meant to ask ... what coolers are you using? 12v or 120?

I remember Plymouth well. Used to go to that little Mediterranean Grill on the north side of Penniman for gyros. Man, I miss the good coney's and greek food in Detroit.
They are Coleman 12V that come with a 120V adapter, right now they are sitting in the bathroom running on 120V.. Sitting on the backseat of the truck where they get the help from the truck's A/C they work OK.. But I don't think if I had them in back they would be doing very well.. We also have a plane Coleman cooler in back with no ice and the stuff inside is actually HOT by the end of the day..

This is my 4th truck with a cap, first one with a water and dust problem. I have had open pickups and vans and for my use caps are the way to go.. Add the neat tailgate step and it works great.. But the spray in liner is hard on the knees, have a piece of plywood back there now to make it a little better.. I do have my bobcat trailer if I need to carry big tall stuff or stones/gravel.. And what's great about that is I can used the bobcat to load/unload...

I did notice today that my normally quiet as far as wind noise truck is now noisy at the driver's side,, not sure if there was a cross wind but didn't notice one or the high heat that made the change.. Will see what it like next time I get it up to speed and it's cooler out..

If you are going back via the north router, I assume I-90, Little Big Horn in Montana is absolutely worth a visit.

I haven't been though there for 20+ years, but it was one of the most memorable places I stopped on my way out to Washington state from the midwest. An amazing place of our country's history.

A great little restaurant there that serves Indian taco's. Yum Yum.

Yes, that is one of the real nice things about the bedrug, a lot easier on the knees for old guys like me as well as keeping dust/water out. My truck doesn't get used that much for heavy duty stuff, just loaded with skis and gear during the winter and paddle boards/kyaks in the summer so the bedrug is plenty durable. And the step on the 16 is a LOT more convenient to use than the one in the 14!

I did a similar trip in reverse last month from Tahoe to MN and back. I used a cheap Coleman cooler in the back seat (the dog was a bit miffed at losing a bit of his space!!) and was surprised at how well it stayed cold. Instead of using ice packs I froze 6 disposable water bottles and put them in the cooler. Meant i also had cold water at the ned of the day!
