Lifetime average mpg?

Don't go by the computer as they're quite optimistic. Calculate each fill up off the trip meter/how many gallons you put in. The computer on my truck was always around 1.5 mpg higher than reality on each fill up.

2015 screw 4x4 3.5L eco. 10,000 miles. Lifetime 17.2. I have a mix of heavy foot, towing, and many times trying to maximize mpgs. I really don't think you are going to notice much financial difference between the Highlander and F150. Not like you are coming from a 4cyl accord to the F150.
Our other vehicle is a Tahoe and it sucks gas compared to my truck. Even with their cylinder deactivation junk. We only get about 14.5 compared to my usual 17 or 18 mpg on each tank.

It depends how you drive and if it is 2 or 4 wd. The thriftiest engine will be the 2.7 or na 3.5. These can beat the highlander. The 5.0 and 3.5 can be a bit below or a bit above the highlander. Worst you will ever get on a stock 3.5 Eco is 15/16 and that's driving it hard, with towing and moderate 4x4 mixed in. Off guess the 5.9 wouldn't be too far off that. If you are easy on the skinny pedal then the 3.5 Eco could edge out the 5.0 in efficiency.
What will you use the truck for? If moderate towing or less, and you want efficiency and speed - 2.7. If you want awesome low end torque and best in class towing - 3.5 Eco. If you like your truck to have a v8 bc that's just what you like -5.0 is a fine choice. Plus the 5.0 shares parts with the mustang so thee are some after market support for that....

2015 3.5 EcoBoost, 3.55 gears
SuperCrew FX4, 5ft bed
OEM 20" wheels, 275/55/20 Wranglers
36 gallon tank
60/40 hwy/city
Always 87 octane
17.4 mpg lifetime average
I'm a pretty conservative driver; no quick accelerations and usually cruise control between 65-69 mph.
I'm satisfied with these numbers, but also know that I'll be taking a hit very soon with larger tires.
