license plate location Ecoboost??
Just got my truck yesterday and once i got home i noticed the license plate in the middle, is that normal for the 2015's ecoboost as my 2012 had it off to the side???
Also i noticed my air intake temp was 20-30 degrees higher than the actual air temp, my 2012 is was within 2 degrees of air temp so this center plate location is certainly blocking most of the air going to the intercooler??
Also i noticed my air intake temp was 20-30 degrees higher than the actual air temp, my 2012 is was within 2 degrees of air temp so this center plate location is certainly blocking most of the air going to the intercooler??

So its the "active grille shutters" that are jacking the intake air temp 20-30 degrees over ambient temp while driving..... i pulled the plate today and it ran 4-5 degrees cooler, but still tons warmer on AIT than the 2012 was. i stopped and looked in the grille opening at one point and saw all of the grille shutters closed down so that is why its running so warm on the AIT. I might unplug them things in the open position so the truck can breathe cool air and see what happens.
thanks for the info everyone!

Disabling the active grill shutters is probably not a good idea. We've had so many problems with the previous generation intercoolers. Over cooling, undercooling, condensation.... etc. I believe the active grill shutters play a key roll regulating air temp within the intercooler to prevent and assist in burning off condensation.
I can also assure you the intercooler never gets hot enough to "burn off" condensation though since it never get over 212F degrees needed to vaporize it and pass it through the system.
