Default Lariat or XLT?

I know that maybe the answer to this question seems obvious... or maybe not! But I'm asking anyway... has anyone bought an XLT that wishes they had the creature comforts and nicer materials in the Lariat, or anyone that bought a Lariat that wishes they would have saved the money and bought an XLT (maybe with a little more money left in the budget for accessories)?

I was pretty much sold on the Lariat after I drove it, but I think I have a mental complex against buying a vehicle that costs over $50K! I test drove an XLT Sport tonight and it's nice, but I'm giving up a lot from the '10 Audi I just sold (first world problems, I know, it is a truck after all). It also seems that there are some dashboard warping and seat reclining issues that seem more prevalent on the XLT (maybe just because I presume there are more XLTs than Lariats out there).

Anyone care to settle the debate? Anything else I should be considering? Obviously there is a price difference, but what you get for the price is a more important consideration to me. Thanks!

The issues your concerned about are not exclusive to just the XLT but that being said there are some things I wish I had in my XLT that comes with the Lariat. I'm actually considering trading mine in for a Lariat just because of those things. I doubt I'll do but I'd like too..

Lariat because I wanted the heated and cooled seats.

3 things pushed me into a lariat-

1.) Auto 4wd
2.) Better Driver INfo Center
3.) Heated Steering Wheel

I honestly prefer cloth seats and would have rather have gotten an xlt.

I went from a 2010 base XLT to a very well equipped 2015 XLT. I have a few mods planned, including adding leather and heated rear seats.

While I have no regrets, my next F150 (2020) will likely be a Lariat.

Lariat. I wanted to take advantage of the extra $2500 in rebates for the XLT but in the end I wouldn't have been happy and would have bought the Lariat thus wasting more than the $2500 I forfeited in rebates. I couldn't be happier.

Too much money for the Lariat Vs. the XLT w/ 302 package in my case. BUT... I've never had a Lariat. My end goal is to be in a new, nice, and reliable truck for the least amount of money. I can do that more often in the long run with an XLT. The Lariat bell and whistle options will trickle down to the XLT sooner or later. The Lariat's are beautiful though. I don't spend enough time in my truck to justify one though.

Look at an XLT w/ 302 package and a center console. Depending on the temp, the remote starter will turn on either the air or heater along with the rear defrost, heated mirrors, and heated seats.

Good Luck!

It's a big investment either way so get what you want so you don't regret it later. As long as you can afford it.

Xlt is the run of the mill value leader Resale differences are similar to price paid differences, except mods get nothing in resale value. So most owners will mod their xlt to add features they didn't want to fund at time of purchase but not recoup at resale. Lariat owners pay up front but don't lose that extra coin as mush at resale... Plus the packaging within each trim can cause deviations.

I've had both and after mods on an xlt or buying it from factory with accessories, lariat is a better deal. But if the buyer wants cheap functionality, xlt wins since the basics are the same in every trim level and really an xlt isn't exactly basic to start with- just not as luxurious is all.
