Lariat 502a delivered without remote tailgate release!
#22
This is the first year ford dampened the tailgate and they only did so because like you said it can be remotely opened so they didn't want the tailgate just dropping. They definitely need to fix it and get the part. That said I don't see a reason you can't go a week or so with it not dampened just be behind your truck when you open it. I would not expect a dealer to pull the part off another truck either it's fords fault not the dealer. Ford needs to make it right by you.

There is way more to the story. The dealer tried telling me my truck does not include this feature and it was working correctly. I had to fight with them for hours and get Ford involved to get them to even concede that it does indeed have the feature and needed to be fixed. Was at the dealer 8 hours on Wednesday fighting and the least they could have done at the end of that was just pull their platinum off the lot for a week.
That's unfortunate to hear! I would be a less than happy customer in ur position.
Ford needs to be made aware of that specific dealerships failings. Their PDI should have caught it prior to delivery! It makes you wonder what else didn't happen.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm dreading something like this happening to me when I pickup my truck. I live within easy driving distance to 4 Ford dealerships. I found out which one I like best just by trying to have the oil changed in my 2011 Mustang. Unfortunately I ordered my F150 from a different dealership, because they were the only one that agreed to Truecar pricing. It just so happens it's the same dealership I bought my Mustang new from. I can already tell they are clueless, because I already ordered the truck and I get 2 emails a day about sales offers from them.

The dealer not knowing it was a problem and arguing for hours was a big mistake on their part. Pulling a 60,000 dollar high demand truck off the lot for a week is asking a lot for a non essential part. The dealership's job is to repair your truck and they will do just that. This is a new feature and the PDI guy may not have known about it? As soon as the part comes in and installed all will be well and this will soon be forgotten unless you are one to carry grudges.

From working at a dealer iv seen them transferring parts from other new vehicles on the lot to a customers new car that needed it a million times. Non essential or essential, doesnt matter. I guess it just depends on the dealership you're dealing with.. some actually care about making things right, some dont. Sorry to hear about this man! Hope you get it resolved soon.
