Default Going my with hardtop

I appreciate the feedback. This is my first truck and I want it to to be hassle free with no issues and from what I've read so far, it seems like I'm better off going with the hardtop. I really like the look of the moonroof and I went out of my way to find one, but I'd much rather have a truck with one less thing to worry about needing fixed.

Got my truck back. The dealer performed the TSB and the noise is gone, for now. Ill keep my fingers crossed that is doesnt come back. Im not too optimistic at this point.

Looks like if just cleaning and lubricating is the " fix" then might as well have the products on your own to do it and learn how via the TSB.....

I hope mine doesn't start to do this, but if so I will try the TSB on my own I guess.

**Update**

I picked up the truck after bringing it in for a number of things including this. My moon roof still rattled and it turned out that after showing them this video a junior tradesman decided to do the TSB again.

It did nothing

I rolled back into the service bay no more than 3 minutes after picking it up and the shop foreman jumped in and we went for a ride.

I showed him in detail exactly what's in the video here ^^^^. He grabbed a bore-scope and shoved it in as close as possible and discovered what I suspected. The adhesive in the panel's frame split in a micro sized spider pattern across and area of about 6cm and the glass was shifting withing the metal side rails.

I must say it was WAY easier to troubleshoot with the 2 of us rather than being on my own.

I have an awesome dealer and the shop agreed to actually replace the moon roof panel this time.

I did ask if I could keep the old part (specifically so that I could take a better close up photo to post here), but good news and bad news, my rattling panel is going directly back to Ford engineers in the USA.

I stuck around long enough to see the lead foreman email photos of the failed glass adhesive to some engineering department in Michigan along with referencing my video.

After a 10 minute drive we were also able to positively identify that the shifting from where the adhesive failed was echoing around to the rear of the panel and causing the noise to appear as though it was coming from where the twin panels meet when indeed it wasn't.

Will update again when panel is replaced.

** Update number 3**

City Ford (in Edmonton) & Ford Canada are awesome. Rather than replace just the faulty moon roof panel as intended where the adhesive failed they are now replacing everything. Both front and rear twin moon roof panels, guide track, frame, sliders, bolts, motors everything.

Do you know which bolts they had to tighten? I'd prefer to do this myself as everytime I take my truck in it results in multiple trips and hours of waiting, i mean 8-12 hours for each issue. because of this i try my hardest to not go to the dealer.

Angry 2015 Ford F150 Creaking noise from sunroof

I have a 2015 Lariat with a twin panel sunroof, the truck is 15 months old. Up until 6 weeks ago all was great. Now I have an annoying creaking coming from the sunroof when closed. This after a week of trying to find where the noise is coming from by removing anything the could creak. I have yet to bring it to the dealer. Just wanted to see if others have the same issue and it appears that I'm not alone. Too nice of a truck for this to be happening.

**Update number 4**

Moon roof rattle gone!

Ford Canada had City Ford of Edmonton install all new panels, track, bolts, motors, frame. Simply put; everything. Either my old parts are on some Fedex truck going to some engineering department in Michigan or I was lied to and they're sitting in the dumpster.

Either way I'm very happy that Ford Canada was able to approve this warranty repair and very happy that the Edmonton City Ford shop foreman rode around as a passenger on a test drive and verified the failed adhesive in the glass with his bore-scope. All around good service, but it took 2 tries to allow for due diligence to take affect and convince them that the issue was not related to the TSB.

I'm not too disappointed by that; after-all, Ford has to troubleshoot these things in logical steps and there is already a TSB out (which failed in my case).

I'm leaving my video on you tube for all future F150 owners who may encounter the same thing. I think there are a few moon roof problems and everyone's rattle may be slightly different to some degree.

I wish you all luck.

Mine rattles so much worse than the video. Been doing it since I bought it in July of 2015 and is substantially worse in cold temps (below freezing). I am really tired of how much time and mileage it costs me to get this addressed correctly.

Brought in my Lariat 6 months ago for the moonroof TSB, fix lasted about two months before the creaking came back. It is now so bad I can only crack it to the venting position, I am not able to retract the glass panel. Brought it in to the dealer today and they said it would cost me $120 to grease the moonroof again because at 40k miles I am out of warranty. This was after it took them an hour and a half to change my oil - pretty disappointed in Ford at this point....
