Installing a TBC on 2018 F150 wo/Factory Wiring
I don't believe Ford's resolution has been posted.
This document provides the installation instructions to install a Trailer Brake Controller (TBC) on a 2018 F150 that was not equipped from the factory with a TBC and may be missing either the fuse or wiring that provides power to the TBC.

SSM 47384 - 2018 F-150 - Genuine Ford Accessory (GFA) Or Aftermarket Trailer Brake Controller (TBC) Installation
Some 2018 F-150 customers may request a GFA TBC or aftermarket TBC kit be installed. Depending on vehicle content, the battery junction box (BJB) may not have the necessary fuse and/or terminals to provide power to the TBC. If the BJB has terminals present at the F24 location, the 30A M-Case fuse GU5Z-14526-H found int he GFA TBC kit JL3Z-19H332-AA can be inserted into the BJB F24 location and the GFA TBC install can be completed. If fuse F24 and terminals are not present, a fused jumper harness kit JL3Z-14A411-C must be installed. The jumper harness and TBC installation instructions are available at www.accesssories.ford.com. Vehicle option content determines the need to install the additional fused jumper harness kit, therefore the purchase and installation of the kit is non-warrantable.

My truck had this issue and Ford installed a new fuse box to resolve this problem. Much better than this subpar fix. The fuse box is only about $200 and it’s plug and play without the need to cut wires. Plus your owners manual will still be accurate next time you try to chase down the trailer fuse lol!

I'm yet another lucky 2018 F150 owner with the missing #24 connections in the factory fuse box whose trying to add the factory brake controller. I've looked at the workarounds but would rather replace the "bad" box with a good one as you write. Before I embark, have you done it? How long did it take? Any special instructions?
Thanks in advance!

My box was missing the terminals for the fuse location #24. After reading a lot about this, I went to my Ford dealer who confirmed it. Apparently some trucks (without the factory controller) had it and others didn't . . . no one seems to know why. After hearing how much the dealer wanted to replace the box (and install the controller, etc.), I decided to do it myself.

its easy. I removed mine for some wiring. There are 3 plugs on the bottom you'll need to unplug once you get it loose.

New member here. Thanks for all the info regarding the #24 fuse and installation fixes provided. However, I have a question that I haven't seen here.
I have 2018 F150 XLT 3.5L EcoBeast (I love this engine). My truck has a 4-pin connector installed, but I am adding a receiver hitch and 7-pin connection for use with a TBC. Since the 4-pin doesn't pass the TBC and charging functionality, how do I adapt for this if I install an OEM TBC? A Ford dealer has said there is a rear bumper harness but won't provide part number or additional info, they just want my money. Do I just tap into the controller plug similar to aftermarket installation? Thanks in advance.
