I have to say...I don't get it. (why the "stickers"?)

I agree...whats the big deal? Don't like it...peel it off!
Its just that simple.
I for one think the trucks without the decal look really plain and give me the impression its the cheap entry level trim model.
All manufacturers do it, its a form of bragging or showing what their trucks are equipped with. No different than a V8 badge, or turbo decal or supercharged, etc.
Most after factory decals look like crap...my opinion. Theres only a few I liked, an all white FX4 somewhere on here looked good with an all black decal, that's about it.

I read every post. I see it like this: Anyone who puts a sticker on top of paint should be required by Federal law to guaranty that the decal lasts just as long as the paint.
Just kidding! The point is why would you get a vehicle with these stickers knowing they are going to fade and peel?...think about it. Whether they look good to you or not, if you keep it a few years, you are going to need to deal with it.

Just did a Google search. .looked at several sites and they say decals / graphics have a life expectancy of (on average) 5 -7 years when outdoors. They also stated 20 plus years if you keep it cleaned and waxed. They say the biggest issue is the paint fades where Not covered with vinyl. That said...If one takes care of the vehicle. .this should be a non issue

I googled is too:
How long do the decals last?
The material we use is actually designed to last 5 to 7 years. Even though the vinyl was developed for vehicles, with the amount of daily wear and tear a car goes through, you will probably begin to see some signs of aging after 3 years. Remember that while the decal is on, it is actually protecting your car from weather and UV damage so the real issue is the aging of the areas of your car not covered by vinyl. You probably don’t want to see a shinny, ghost image so we recommend you remove the decals after 18 to 24 months.
How is "showing signs of aging after 3 years" not in your post?

My 2004 was garaged only intermittently, hand washed occasionally, and waxed approx. twice annually...after 10 years, all appears new and no issues with decals or paint. Caveat: western Oregon has neutral pH rain and less UV/intense heat issues.
