How much dirt can I haul?
#11
Dirt varies by type and moisture content, but typically 2000 to 3000 pounds per yard. I would strongly suggest no more than 1/2 yard in your f150. Whatever you do, do NOT fill the box up. That would be about 4 yards. Potentially 12,000lbs. Your truck would never be the same again.

I usually fill it up until it's 1" above the stops. A yard to yard and a half had been hauled many times with my half ton.

haha sorry, I was trying to answer the question someone asked earlier if it is sold by the lb . I knew cubic yard and yard are 1 in the same here.

I've done a full yard on an old Tacoma single cab, had no problems with that truck at all. This year in the f150 I rented a motorcycle trailer for $16.99 or something like that and filled up the trailer with dirt.

I was the one joking about the by the pound as he seemed to be wanting to carry the max it could legally.. I think most would ask if they can carry a full yard or just a half a yard.. Or half a scoop or a full scoop. But then Home Depot sales it in I think 1/2 cubic foot bags.. Or is it by a 40 pound sopping wet bag that should equal around a 1/2 cubic foot. He didn't state how he was buying it.
