It takes me 5 minutes to do up a factory order form. It's not rocket science. I design it in my DMS system and then write down the option codes on the order form, walk it up to the controller and when I get the order number I check COTUS daily and if there are any changes I call the customer and provide them with periodic updates and when it arrives, I snap photos and send them while the vehicle gets prepared for the sale.

But thanks for combining all of us "floor people" into one large group who don't know anything about anything. Those of us who do our jobs properly are the ones who have long-lasting relationships with our customers. Those who don't know how to do their jobs or who don't put the effort in are the ones who sit on the revolving door side of the showroom.

You are literally the 1% in the salesman world. I've only bought and sold a little over a dozen vehicles in the last 10-years and I've talked to two guys that have your mentality. I've emailed hundreds of salesman in the past and most haven't got a clue what they are even doing.

Thank you for not being one of them...

+1

If I had a nickle for every time I've test driven a vehicle and EDUCATED THE SALESMAN on the vehicle I want to purchase, I'd be a MILLIONAIRE by now! Every manufacture needs to do a better job with dealers and salesman. As much as dealers make, they are loosing BILLIONS because of these idiotic salesman and the tactics some of them push on people..

It's easy. If you're not getting a comfortable feeling with that salesman then you should deal with somebody else. I can tell about 30 seconds after meeting the customer if they are comfortable with me or not. And 90% of the time, if the customer is not comfortable with the salesman, he/she will find a way to not buy from them, as they should. You are sharing personal information and completing the second largest purchase of your life, you should be going through the process with somebody who you are comfortable with.

Totally wrong. Whether you order or buy off the lot, you should be entitled to the same pricing. I know i offer the same deal to my customers whether they purchase a truck off the lot or factory order. Actually, in Canada, there was a $500 factory order bonus for awhile. But now that employee pricing is in effect it makes it easier on everyone by mitigating any negotiation. The price is the price.

Nonsense. My salesman is actually one of Ford's best salespersons (you should see all his awards). I've bought or leased 10 new vehicles from him in the past ~9 years.

What's most important isn't whether s/he is a "floor person" or a "fleet manager". What's most important is that you find a competent salesperson that you trust. Period.

There's your problem right there. Why are you "e-mailing hundreds of salesman (sic)"? You shouldn't be "finding a dealer" or "finding a salesman" each time you want to purchase a new car. You should "build a relationship" with someone that you can trust over the years. That's EXACTLY what I told my salesman ~9 years ago. The only way I'd buy a car from someone else would be if he got out of the business.

This is wrong on so many levels, including the last statement.
