Thanks for any 411.
It lets you lock your keys in the truck when you go hiking, surfing, mountain biking, or anything else you want to do without your keys in your pocket.

Like others have said, I lock my keys inside when I got running to have empty pockets, or if I'm going to get wet. That was the biggest complaint I had about my Tacoma. Expensive to replace transponder key you needed to keep dry, and no one would copy it to give me a generic key just to open the door to get to my real key. No problem with that now.

I also keep a copy of my wife's truck key in the console if I need to move it without going back into the house. Or need to get back into my truck after I've left the key upstairs. Or have the kids get stuff out at the park without giving them the key.

Plus when I go fishing I hide my keys in the truck. I have a fear of dropping my key fob into the lake and being screwed.

The keypad is supper handy when you are parked by a digital billboard that transmits wirelessly into the store. For some reason they jam our key fobs and you can type your code in the buttons to get in.

I didn't have my key with me this morning when I went out to my shop. Also wanted to check on something in the truck. The keypad allowed me to do that without going back into the house for my key.

I have electronic tailgate and intelligent access.
Tried the manual, and online chat with Ford.
No joy.
TIA,
Dean
I found a work around. I put the key in a small tin box, and bingo, secure bed with key in cab.

I have a KR with the electronic tailgate, pressing the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on the keypad simultaneously locks all the doors and the tailgate with the fob inside the cab. I just rechecked it and it does work on my truck.

I wonder if this would fit the smart key keyfob inside. I would leave an extra in the truck with it in here and wrapped in copper foil.

Has anyone ordered from a VERY out-of-state dealer and had it shipped directly to your local dealership? Is it even possible. I found a dealer 1,300 miles away that with better regional rebates and lower processing costs I would save $1,200. The state also has an exemption for sales taxes for out-of-state purchasers.

You'll still have to pay your state taxes on the truck

Fly and drive, doubt dealer is going to take in truck unless something is in it for them

I flew to north Caroline and bought /rode a bike back to Houston
