The older F150's like the 2011 when I had one for sure didn't have any canbus systems. I too tried to install my Hid kit onto my 2015 XLT, same thing happened as the OP. But at the same time I wired up my fogs to HID's also.

Seemed like having all 4 HID's it wasn't liking it all too much.

But here's my setup. HID kit is from The retrofitsource, with relay harness to the battery. Setup turns on then off. I even tried my OEM ballasts I got from retrofitsource. Same thing. I even installed the inline canbus modules on both sides-no worky!

Fog lights didn't even work proper. One side came on and the other didn't. Also I might add this isn't because of the daytime running light issues either. What I did with my previous vehicle, a 2014 Ford escape. I retrofitted the headlights and installed quad projectors and both came on at the same time and I adjusted the height so it points at a low beam level.

What I did to bypass the DRL, I cut the DRL power wire from he plugin going to the headlights. I tied the HID wiring to the foglights, so when ever I want the headlights on I hit the foglight switch and all of them come on.

BUt like I said nothing but issues with my F150, took it all out and installed the Putco LED kit instead, I am tired with playing around with lights lol.

My Fogs do have the HID's on it but one side a bit finicky.

Could be in the plug that connects to the relay harness from the OEM bulb socket - there's pins in there that have a bit of wiggle to them (the relay harness side) - if you hold that plug together, or wiggle the wires, they will turn back on.

We had this issue in 2 2012 and 2014 F150s - we had to silicon the plug so that the prongs didnt have any movement and made a good connection to the oem plug.

Give that a shot? Hold that connection and see if moving the wires up and down make it better.

I can tell you right now thats the worst way to do it.

The oem wiring can't sustain the current needed to fire the ballasts, you'll end up cooking something.

Get a better kit with a relay harness and then try it.

Thats entirely possible, there may never be an issue - but if there was would you rather have it fry a $20 relay harness or a several hundred dollar oem harness that a dealer has to hunt down the short to fix?

The idea behind the harness is to remove the OEM wiring from such a high demand - it isnt designed to do that.

Default HID's issue (newbie)

Mine did the same thing. That's why I pulled them and ordered LED's from Raptor Retrofits. The factory system senses the over current and kills the power. I verified no power to the plug when they would cut off. Tested with a relay harness and had no issues but didn't want to mess with it all plus the light output was way to scattered in the 2015 halogen housings.

We do, and the f150 has had it well over 10 years now.

Thats not true. We have never used a canbus system. Not since 2004 anyway.

Pull the obd2 plug wiring and you'll see can high and can low wires.

This video will tell you which ones they are from '11 to '14 go to 1:50 on the video
