HID's issue (newbie)
Howzit everyone , I recently purchased a 2015 F150 xlt 3.5 eco 4x4 crewcab , my issue I'm having is I just installed HID headlights to my truck and it works when the truck is off , but as soon as you start her up the HID's turn off . I tried to turn them on when truck is running and it flickers for like a second and doesn't come on . I also installed the error decoder . Please help need my lights . Thank you ahead of time .

The error thing isn't needed on our trucks.
Where did you get the HID kit? I ask because they should never be turned on BEFORE the truck turns on because during crank the amperage available to the ballasts is pulled down and they may cause the ballasts to fry.
It sounds like a cheap HID kit - BUT - if you have HIDs, you have to manually turn them on every time.
To clarify - you bought an HID kit, not an LED kit, is that right? They are replacement bulbs that you put in?

I've never heard of that brand, but I would assume it's something to do with the way it's wired up.
Do the ballasts get their power from the battery or do they power up from the stock bulb wiring (ie. no relay harness)?
The error thing could be an issue too. You dont need it.
EDIT - I looked into Opt7 - it's definitely not high end - by any means. I suspect thats your problem, you may not have had issues, but they are FAR from anything I would ever consider buying for my brand new truck. When you purchased it did you add the relay harness?
I'm really thinking it's just a garbage kit. It's $50 for their highest end kit (which a quality kit would be 3x that)

BUT - just that decoder may not be the issue - let me know when you test it. I'm curious.

I had a good TRS kit that did the exact same thing in my truck. I ended up taking them out and selling the kit to a friend. They worked in my old car and in his car...so its something with the canbus system that doesn't like hid's.

I dont think our trucks use a canbus system, so why would you have that as part of it?
Also, a lot of others have said that you have to disable the auto headlights and DRLs for them to work properly.
Like I said, it's a simple relay harness switch system - you dont need a decoder or anything else.
If the TRS system didn't work (which i find hard to believe) then it's on your end, something isn't how it should be.
