Default Help me buy my first new truck.

Hi, was hoping some of the vets could help me nail down the best trim/package for my needs and budget. It's been a bit confusing for me.

Must have:
2.7 V6 Ecoboost
SuperCrew Cab
Power door locks

Want to have:
Center console rather than the 3rd seat.
Decent interior. Not sure about the entry level cloth seats?

Would be nice:
4x4

Budget:
Under $40k

I do not care about exterior trim or wheel upgrades. The truck will be getting a lot of aftermarket treatment for the exterior and suspension.

I've been quoted $30,500 for an XL with the 2.7 Ecoboost and 101A package which sounds like a really good price. I didn't know it would be that low, so I have room in my budget. Should I move up to an XLT or 4x4?

Appreciate any input.

The XL is going to be bare bones, and I'm not sure you can get a console. I would at least step up to the xlt. And I personally would never own a truck that wasn't 4x4, but that's just me.

If you are really in Tijuana, how will you keep it from being stolen?

Definitely doable. I did a search and found some by me : xlt, 4x4, crew cab, center console , etc for around 35-36,000

I have been living in TJ for over 5 years. I have owned a Focus ST, Explorer Sport, and currently a 2015 Mustang GT. Never had an issue.

People get their cars stolen in TJ because they are parking in a shady area, then go to the ***** houses to get drunk out of their minds.

You can find trouble anywhere.

Absolutely. Thanks for the info. My foreman ( a Mexican National) goes back and forth and told me there are issues on the roads near the border.

I purchased a 2015 4x2 XLT Sport with the 2.7, center console (all sport XLTs have them) and the 302A luxury package for $32K drive out. I'd imagine you'd add about $2-3k for the 4x4. Very doable in your price range.

Just keep in mind that most Americans only understand what the media feeds them. I am not going to tell you that there are no issues here at all. Every person I take to Mexico are pleasantly surprised and always come back.

If you drive around in a fancy car, showing off your 1000 watt sound system, flashing your Rolex and $700 smart phone, stumble into a dark alley... yeah you might get robbed. Thing is, I feel safer here than my old neighborhood in LA.

Thank you that is great info.

I was mistaken on the quote I got earlier. It was for an XLT after all.

They just sent me a quote for the 2016 XLT S/C 4x4 V8 for $37.9k

Oh boy I have some decisions to make. I didn't even consider the V8 because I thought it would put me out of range.
