I usually have a copy of the document (TSB or SSM) in hand, state my vehicle has this issue and respectfully request they perform the procedure in the document

Mine is currently in the shop for the new TSB. I'm hoping this does the trick. Last week I couldn't even open my rear door from the inside. I had to show the bulletin to the service adviser. They act like they're unfamiliar with the problem but I call BS. I think it's more widespread then they let on.

I had forgotten about this issue from last year until this morning when my rear driver side rear door wouldn't close after freezing up overnight after the first day of snow/rain yesterday.
I didn't bother with the TSB from last year, but I think I'll have the updated one completed.
Does anyone have any tricks to get the doors to close when the problem occurs (beyond a heat gun)? I kept manually working the latch mechanism and handle e few times, and eventually it closed properly.

I've got a 6/4/16 build date. First real cold morning at 19°. Left rear door didn't want to unlock until she warmed up, but I could unlock it by hand.
Has anyone verified this new fix works? I'd rather not have my truck disassembled if this isn't a confirmed fix.

so far the new TSB fix is working. Just to make sure, I go to the car wash everyday after work and the temps have been dropping into the low 20's with below zero expected next week. Mine is the only one my dealer has updated so far and i am making sure the fix is the fix before they spend a lot of time fixing others. The fix the right way took about 10 hours to complete and Ford only pays 6 or 7 hours on book time. They gave me a loaner '15 yesterday to use while I put new tires on mine and one front door did not want to latch on that one either. (extended cab loaner) It seems most problems are found with temps fluctuating above and below freezing in cycles. When the air is super cold and dry things seem to work. 20 to 30 degrees outside and the locks quit. I am sure the new SuperDuty trucks and any '17 truck has the updates from the factory. '15 and '16 north of the mason dixon line you will have problems eventually.

Thanks! I as well as many others appreciate that. I have an unlimited car wash pass but haven't gotten a wash in about a week, so I was surprised a door wouldn't open.
I just reread the TSB as I thought my build date wasn't affected, but I see that's only with the new door lock rods.
*Edited to add, tailgate not unlocking. I had this happen a handful of times with my '14 if I locked it with the key. Both trucks have the tailgate step.

Just left my dealership and was told the TSB does not include SuperCabs... Told me that I could get the TSB done on the front doors and when Ford figures out the fix for the rear doors I'd have to come back! What kind of engineers work at FORD?

I've had my truck in the shop now for 4 days. They did give me a Ford Focus loaner so I'm trying to be patient. They had to order parts and then re order parts. I just want it fixed once and for all. I agree with the above statement that 20-30+ degrees seems to be the worst. Super cold dry air isn't really an issue. Washing your vehicle also hurts, but I need to get the salt and grime off at least weekly so not washing just isn't an option for me. And that has never been an issue on any previous vehicle I've ever owned

as the temps keep dropping, the new fix seems to fix it for good. For the dealer it does take a lot of time and is a lot of work to do it right. A tech is pretty much committing to do one truck all day, maybe two, and it is like working a puzzle getting everything out and then back together again with locks, windows, keyholes, latches, rods, cables, and if the old tsb was done, all covered with grease while not trying to drop parts down into the door and working by feel a lot of the time. It won't be a job the techs will want to do. To top it off, the time allotted by Ford shorts the techs on time on this.
