Front wheel well liners?

Front wheel well liners?
I just picked up a 15 xlt 4x4 and noticed that the front liners are some sort of thick carpet material. I'd imagine this is for sound dampening and I've seen this type of thing done on more street focused vehicles but am wondering how it will hold up to mud and snow. Anybody know of a tougher aftermarket option that may fit over the stock stuff?

Mine are plastic. My truck is an XL.
The felt ones do hold up. The super duty has been using them for years and the typical Super Duty around here is a plow truck. That's about as harsh as you can get on them. No real issues.
The felt stuff stays muddy even if you wash it off, the plastic comes clean, so I prefer the plastic.
I have no idea why some have plastic and some felt, I thought it might be a trim level thing, but somebody posted their XLT has felt. Maybe it is by engine?

Mine are the felt like ones to. I don't like them. They just aren't as easy as the plastic ones are to wash. Now the wheel liners for the rear wells are the same old plastic
