Default Forget 2015...Waiting for 2016!

Between waiting for better rebates for 7 months with no luck and the all new Sync 3 coming in 2016 models,I will wait for and order a 2016 as soon as they will take orders, even though if will cost me more.IMHO Sync 3 is worth the wait. Thoughts ?

Remember when they first put Sync in Ford vehicles and how buggy it was? I'm sure if Sync 3 works it will be a step up but I also think there will be some kinks to work out. In-car computing still leaves a lot to be desired so being an early adopter of a new system sort of scares me.

At least that's how I'm justifying buying a '15 in my mind!

This convinced me.
(It's going to be a big change that makes the car considerably less frustrating," said Tom Mutchler, a senior automotive engineer with Consumer Reports, which has long criticized MyFord Touch. "If more consumers knew the improvement that Sync 3 was going to provide, they would wait a few months."

It's called Stync for a reason.

Sync 3 is so great and MFT is "frustrating?" Sounds like they admitted the problem. Just allow me to upgrade my system, how about that? I love that Ford is continually making improvements but I hate the idea that I can't update my current truck. Reward your loyal customers. It's a software update. I just spent $50,000 on a pickup that I love but is there going to be a compatibility issue with 2015 F150? I think not.

Sorry rant over...

Unfortunately something this tightly integrated is rarely just software. They could make it work if they wanted to on 2015s, but it would be very difficult. Likely different processors, different radio tuners & modules. The reason IOS often works better than android os is there are a limited number of screen and processor types. I would say making sync 3 work on a 2015 is possible, but I wouldn't say it was easy.

I'm in the same boat but the justification for the wait is centered solely on the new 10 speed tranny. Coupled with some growing pains the wait seems justified.

I agree that an upgrade kit would be great, however it is more than a software update. The new system has a capacitive touchscreen that allows for multi finger gestures, like smartphone screens do. (as opposed to MFT's resistive touch screen)

I'm waiting to see the packages and what is new for the 2016. I'll be making a decision after all the 2016 info is out. I'm sure I would like the new Sync 3 system, but not a deal breaker either way.

Now that these vehicles are packed with technology, they kind of fall into the tech buying game. If you're always waiting around for the latest & greatest thing, you'll always be waiting around. Just buy one and have fun with it for what it is. There is always going to be some new & improved version around the corner.
