Default Ford Perimeter Plus Security?

Can anyone explain to me exactly how this works and what it does? I paid for this add-on with my new truck including the LED but they never told me how it works or anything. I don't even see where the LED is installed? What is different from this and the factory PASS system? I can't find much information online either so I thought I would go to the experts here. The truck is a 2016 F150 Limited.

I think the main thing it adds over the perimeter alarm from the factory is motion detection (if vehicle is jarred, hit, etc.) It also adds remote start capabilities if you didn't already have it.

If it's the alarm I have it adds a small red led light and a shock sensor to the truck

It works too. This weekend, I rotated my tires. I enjoy wrenching on my truck. Easy job front to back. Anyhow, I forgot to unlock it before I started. As soon as I started jacking it up with my floor jack, the alarm went off. I immediately entered my door code and it stopped. Kinda cool.

I also noticed a while back that the alarm will go off if you unhook your trailer's wire harness without unlocking the doors first I didn't even have to touch the truck for it to happen.

IDK about the F150, but my 2015 Mustang had it and even putting your hand through the window with the alarm armed (if accidentally locked while working on it) would set it off. Good investment IMO

It doesnt add motion detection...it adds an adjustable shock sensor. The OEM motion detection is a feature built into the overhead console, and only available on a select number of trim levels. If you look at your over head console, you will know immediately if you have motion detection or not....you will see (4) round eye like objects that look like small cameras, Each one points toward a window...this is how the motion detection works. Anything outside of that widow comes within a specific range, and it will honk the horn once to warn away. I know this as I am researching IF I can retrofit this part of the VSS to my 2016 XLT. Hopefully its just a new console to replace mine, a harness and a different control module. We will see.

This is what the unit looks like, FWIW.

You are correct.... shock sensor is what I was talking about (just used the wrong term). I would be very interested in finding out what is involved to add the motion sensors inside the truck. Please keep us updated on your findings.

No worries.... I will. i was told that the 8" display cluster wouldnt work in my truck, nor the Lariat AC/bezel with the back lit blue rings and dual climate control...... they both work. Ill keep you guys updated with this. Also working on adding the 360 Camera system...lil more involved but I can figure it out. Just gotta map it out and determine which modules and receivers/senders i will need. Already have the Platinum grille with camera hole and the side mirrors with the cameras/puddle lights...just need to piece the puzzle together.
