Default Ford, if you build it, they will come....

I was happy when they announced the Sport SE package would be on all body styles, including regular cab. When I looked I looked at the 2016 order guide, it now says that package is only for super & crew cabs. I want another regular cab, but a sporty one, and it must have a V8. The 2014 Tremor was a shot of good faith, but totally missed the mark. I think more people would rather have a RCSB V8 sport truck than a RCSB EB sport truck. Both are traditional style, the regular cab and the V8. The Tremor found a few buyers but was packaged wrong (only sold fully loaded and with only the 3.5 EB, which were not quicker than a RCSB 5.0) so many are still on the lots more than a year later. I couldn't justify $15-18K for a flashier slower truck than my STX 5.0. If they built a similar less optioned truck with a V8 it would sell. The XL Sport is to plain (think work truck with monotone paint), and the XLT RCSB is not available with the sport package. WHY? Ford has everything to do this! My thought is to build the RCSB XLT sport Exactly as the Crew & super cab XLT's are made. With a floor console and black cloth interior. Have all the options available including the 302A package, which is not available on a RCSB XLT! Then make the existing SE package available for those who want the tremor look. Make all engines available on the RCSB XLT sport. Take a good look at Dodge, they don't ignore the RCSB buyer. This constant snubbing by Ford pisses me off. I've been driving fords since my first car at 16. (A 68 T-Bird 429) Think about it Ford, we are waiting.

Good post and I agree a 2wd rcsb truck similar to the lightning would be nice. I probably would never buy one but, I've bought other vehicles I never thought I would buy. A buddy of mine had a lightning and I loved driving it. I just never bought one.

You have the same gripe the raptor guys have. Ecoboost is fords go to engine now. I wouldn't be surprised to see ford getting rid of V8's all together at some point in the future. It's not the way I think they should go, but it's the way they are headed.

I personally would love to see another Lightning style truck but faster. I drove an old Lightning and loved it. I love the Raptor but some guys don't want an off-road truck. I think Ford is making a mistake making the new 2017 Raptor an Ecoboost. Give us a supercharged V8 Raptor Ford!! Guys want that rumble of a V8 for a big beefy truck, not a V6.

I think that Ford is well vested into the process of proving that the V8 actually isn't nearly as necessary as some would like you to believe. I've actually got my fingers crossed for a 450+ HP Ecoboost Raptor with a 10-speed transmission--I care more about the performance and technology than the number of cylinders.

Don't get me wrong, I own an Ecoboost and love the power, but not everyone wants a V6! Lots of people want an off-road truck to sound like a beast, not a V6! Ford can make a V8 with a ton of power if they want. Why not turbo the V8 and really up the HP?

It is... unless you supercharge the 5.0 or give it a shot of NOS.
Maybe your butt dyno needs to be re-calibrated?

AS a Former Gen 2 Lightning owner, I would love to have a boosted V8 new generation Lightning! I'd settle for a Nice RCSB that I can put a Roush blower on. Ford just doesn't care about the regular cab guys. The Tremor was too far off target for 90% of the RCSB fans. Probably the only thing that prevents me from Buying a 16 F150 is that I can't get a nicer RCSB than the 13 STX I have now. Good luck even finding a Single RCSB 5.0 15 ANYWHERE. The 5.0 Has to the the single most popular engine option for the 2015's, but none in the RCSB's. Just let us build at least a 302A truck.

It's really not faster. Most are 14.6-15.1 in the quarter. I've yet to see a stock Tremor run quicker than the 14.3 Quarters that the bone stock RCSB 5.0's are running.......

Ford did until the 2015s. Chevy doesnt either at the moment (correct me if I'm wrong on that). GMC might, but their new reg cabs are just as rare as the 2015 ford reg cabs. And the new GM reg cabs are still cramped as **** so who cares, they dont appeal to me.
Dodge is the only one who really cares about us anymore. I love the rcsb tradesman/express package w/ the Hemi and that truck is readily available compared to the competition now.

Oh and lets not forget the 15 reg cab f150s have a smaller cab than the 09-14s. So they dont really appeal to me now anyway. Its really nice having some damn space behind the seats and a seat that slides back a generous distance for us tall guys.
I'm holding onto my '13 rcsb 5L with a white knuckle death grip for many more years.
