Ford forum but questions on competition

I just can't get over the GM square wheel wells and the exaggerated fenders. That was enough for me not to even consider those trucks.
And on the sunroof leaking thing, I don't currently have one, but have had 3 vehicles (Chevy, Hyundai & Ford) with sunroofs, and none of them ever leaked.

REPEATING FOR THOSE WITH READING COMPREHENSION ISSUES:
If you had a vehicle that didn't it means you didn't (or haven't) had it long enough for it to leak.
Thanks in advance.

So i bought an f150 because i believe they are most reliable and only issues people have are with cosmetic things on high trim levels. Buddy has a dodge and in market to get a new truck. I told him about chevys vibrations thats a very prevelant problem in their trucks. What are some of the major issues each of the brands have? Can you guys list some as i dont know alot about the other brands? specifically the american companies! thanks!
Ford: door alignments, leather stretch, sun roof leaking
chevy: vibrations/shudders

Worst hairday ever...
Ford:
doors that don't lock/unlock in cold weather.
doors that don't latch in cold weather.
Windshield washers not spraying in cold weather.
I see a trend here...

Ford: Well...
1. Door Alignments
2. Leather Stretch
3. Heated / Cooled Seats Not Working
4. Sunroof leaks (I haven't experienced this one)
5. Apparently issues with the PCM/TB causing AdvanceTrac issues.
Chevy/GMC:
1. All of the above
2. Transmission issues and rear-end issues.
3. AFM is essentially the one reason other than the transmission that I would not consider these trucks. I haven't met a single new Chevy owner without oil consumption issues...it's sad because these are awesome looking trucks.
Dodge:
1. All of the above
2. Issues with air suspension
Tundra:
1. Oil consumption
2. Fuel economy
3. They're pokey
Nissan / Honda: They aren't really 1/2 ton pick-ups even if the Tundra states it is. The new Tundra, maybe so...but in the past it was more like a beefed up Frontier.
Honestly...if you can get past the looks of the Toyota and how it rides...and the gas mileage...it's probably the most dependable truck out there by a large margin. I went with the F-150 because the other ones from RAM/FC and GM have the same issues and where Ford beats them is performance and functionality. I'd generally agree with what I've read from CR about these trucks based on my experience with them through friends and family and my own shopping.

You are 100% correct in the same way as saying "all cars with doors will leak and if they don't you haven't had it long enough." It's rubber it deteriorates. If I own it 100 years, sure the rubber will need to be replaced. I've owned 7 cars with moon roofs, two being Hondas that made it over 200000 miles. The only one that ever leaked was aftermarket installed.

It doesn't look awful...style-wise though it does buck the trend a bit...which is cool. I just hope the next body-style looks a little more rugged inside and out...then I'll be a buyer. The smooth curve design nowadays is making these trucks look more and more like a car...some of it for aerodynamics and some of it just because looks have changed. I still like the squarish shapes of the big three...even RAM. That's just me though, to each their own.

OP I'll tell you what I found when I looked into every truck
GM Twins: Same old truck from 2000. Drove a few and it felt just like my 2000 silverado. Their V8s lack grunt when hooked to a trailer. I would only get one if I was getting the 6.2. That motor is solid. The vibrations also scared me away from them.
RAM: Poor paint on the seams below the doors, seem to see a lot of rusty ones, overall just didn't feel as solid as the Ford. I think since they got the new 8 speed they've had a better track record with tranny issues but I could be wrong.
Tundra: **** poor MPGs and rough ride. Looks depend on who you are but I think they are ugly. Again to me it felt like the GM twins. New sheet metal but everything else feels old still
Nissan: The cummins seems to be a bit of a flop in that truck. From what I've read a lot of people are disappointed in the new truck. I mean how many of them have you actually seen on the road?
Ridgeline: Are you buying a truck or a honda pilot that has *** cancer surgically removed?! At the end of the day it's a pilot. I feel like your friend would be disappointed in it.
Ford: biggest issue seems to be with leather stretching, cooled seats, and bugs with SYNC. The problem with all of these alignment issue and sunroof posts is that it's hard to see the scale of the actual problem. Most people don't google for a thread with people complaining so they can join the forum and say "my truck is great" people search for threads and comment when they too have problems. I haven't seen any TSBs on the sunroof or door alignment (then again I haven't looked for them as I don't have a sunroof and my doors are damn good). Yet Ford seems to have been good about releasing TSBs (mind you they don't solve a f***ing thing, but they are still released)
