That's good information. I was too scared to do mine and paid to have them opened/painted. Post us up some pics of yours.

I've been hesitant because I tried the FXR kit on my 99 F150 and it was a nightmare but those were completely custom, no threaded shaft like the mini kits. I think now it's just the cost that's preventing me from giving it a try on my 08 FX4. I've got a junky ddmtuning kit in there now.

Default DIY- Mini H1 7.0 Projector Retrofit

275° for 30 mins! Can't believe you didn't spider crack the lenses or melt the housing. 265 for 12 is all I use for these...

Wow, great stuff in this thread. Should be dropping off my truck this weekend for the retrofit.

FFBoomer - tell me more about this quad xenon setup you have going on here. Also I noticed the OP said he didnt use the bi-xenon portion - does that mean that the new projector is only low beam? I also think this quad setup would look better with the insides/reflectors painted black. I want to paint them black but feel just having the projector in the top part of the headlight would make the bottom part look weird (also would be concerned about annual inspections too - I could see an inspector second guessing a bulb in a housing that has black reflectors)

mine is projector up top and bulb in the bottom, is a little weird looking and so I am setting it up with quads in a week or two and am going to paint everything.

Thanks for this note - I will let Bryan know I want a quad setup when i see him this weekend. So what would the bottom projector do? Sorry still a little unclear on this.

FFBoomer519 Just curious if you could tell us which projectors you used in those retro builds? If they weren't H1's how hard were they to install?

I'd let him know you want to do quad today so he can have the parts ready for you this weekend. For MY setup (would be different with OP since he didn't do bi-xenon) basically the bottom is there to compliment the upper lights, the DS2 put out a nice far spread, but not as wide as the h-1. So it will be a good mix. Besides that, it will LOOK nice IMO.

Now, if I just painted the whole housing I think it wouldn't look too bad without a second HID set. I am going to be living in the country real soon with no street lighting within 40 minutes of me, so by going a little overkill and doing quads is going to help me not hit deer and other animals.
