DIY bed divider?

How did you add the mounts? I have an extender from my 2006 which looks like the one you have here, which I'm hoping to re-use. Did you have to tap the bed sides, and then re-use the mounts from the old truck?

I made the same bed divider that Voltruckguy posted. It's functional, but has a couple drawbacks. A 2x10 that long is heavy and cumbersome and it doesn't reach the bed floor.

So I came up with this 2 piece design that is more user friendly. Top piece is a 2x4 cut to fit between the wood beam sockets. The contour cuts make it easier to remove it from under the tonneau rails. The bottom is a piece of 3/8" plywood 62"x13" (free scrap from Lowe's). Pieces are held together with 4 barrel bolts I had laying around the garage. It's easy for me or the wife to remove the bottom piece when the full length on the bed is needed. Once the bottom piece is removed it's much easier to remove the 2x4 if need be.

I plan to replace the barrel bolts with take apart hinges Amazon.com: Reliable Hardware Company RH-1225-2-A Zinc Take-Apart/Lift Off Hinge - Set of 2: Musical Instruments
to make it easier to separate the pieces. I also plan to put some type of straps on it so the bottom piece can be rotated to horizontal and stowed in that position.

Is the plywood loose? I would think only being attached on top like that it would be pretty loose on the bottom...

I have the 6.5 foot bed.
I have the factory bed divider but I have been wondering how to DIY bed extender ???
I'd like to be able to go fetch some 4x8 wood sheet and having to strap everything everytime...
Any one made a DIY bed extender ?

i have a roll up toneau cover and a bed rug. I use the slots in the side of the bed behind the wheel wells. there are like 4 slots. go to your local car audio shop and have them cut you a piece of the board they use for sub enclosures, cover it in the grey carpet and it matches the bed rug about perfect.
