DIY bed divider?

Nothern tool
Not sure if these are the exact ones that the poster has, but they look very similar. Holds 2x4 or 2x6

I love my OEM bed extender/divider. But the price, new, can be ridiculous. If i didn't have one, I'd just throw a 2x10 in the slots. No reason to drill into anything when such a simple solution is out there.

I ordered these from Amazon yesterday:

Bit more expensive, but free shipping with Amazon Prime. I'm going to spray the 2x6 with bed liner material.

DIY bed divider?
I purchased mine from etrailer.com for $6.49 each. 2x10 painted with bed liner spray. Only negative, brackets won't come off without removing board first. I am going to replace bolts with a cotter pin for quick removal.

...so a 2x10 at 64 3/4" long work between the slots? That's leaving 1/8" each side for in and out movement, and black bed liner application to the wood.

I think that measurement is correct. I will have to verify later. I did have to "shave off" slightly more after I cut it. I do know that I measured 2" down from top and 2" in from edge for the cut out on each side. I used the black bed liner spray from Lowes.

DIY Bed Divider, Part Deux
I made the same bed divider that Voltruckguy posted. It's functional, but has a couple drawbacks. A 2x10 that long is heavy and cumbersome and it doesn't reach the bed floor.
So I came up with this 2 piece design that is more user friendly. Top piece is a 2x4 cut to fit between the wood beam sockets. The contour cuts make it easier to remove it from under the tonneau rails. The bottom is a piece of 3/8" plywood 62"x13" (free scrap from Lowe's). Pieces are held together with 4 barrel bolts I had laying around the garage. It's easy for me or the wife to remove the bottom piece when the full length on the bed is needed. Once the bottom piece is removed it's much easier to remove the 2x4 if need be.
I plan to replace the barrel bolts with take apart hinges to make it easier to separate the pieces. I also plan to put some type of straps on it so the bottom piece can be rotated to horizontal and stowed in that position.

Way to one up me Love it! Like the decal on the other, but the improvements are excellent and solve some of the issues I was having. I will probably make the same modifications soon!!!

Didn't mean to one up you. Just trying to make it more practical and user-friendly. Once I get the hinges and get everything painted I'll post some more pics. I have room for a bigger H-D decal! Gonna have to wait until after vacation. I'll wave as we pass through Memphis on Thursday on our way to upstate NY. Anxious to see what type of MPGs I get on the first road trip.
