Desler tried to slip a $750 incentive past me by reducing my trade value by $750. The price he emailed me was the same OTD price, so i didn't think twice when signing. Caught it after i got home.

Says they are sending me a check for the difference. I'm holding out on the Ford Customer service survey until the check shows up though.

Good catch...don't know about your dealer, but my dealer (rated #1 in sales/service in my locale) would go into meltdown trauma if a customer gave a bad review on a Ford customer service survey. Those survey results can impact a dealer's business standings with Ford if enough negative results accumulate. A warranty situation arose following my purchase of a 2010 Fusion that resulted in the dismissal of a service manager over some paperwork issues after I contacted (in writing) the dealer's top management.

Yeah they've called me twice making sure i leave an outstanding review. Must be a nice kickback they receive for reviews.

I went to buy a Ford truck years ago, picked out the truck I wanted, signed all the paperwork...Quirk Ford
Put my deposit down....next day I get a call that they made a mistake & the truck was already sold
But they have another truck that I can look at....will have it brought up that day
I go down after work, no truck, Salesman is not there
I found out later he WAS there, just ducking me
I get another call the next day....they have a truck for me to look at....same price
I again go in after work....its not a color I want, standard not auto, not anything like the truck I "bought"
And the price should be about $3k LESS then what I was buying.....I leave
They call me the next day....and I find out that the truck I saw the nite before is the truck that they wrote the paperwork up .....their mistake
They need me to come in & cancel the sale
I tell them I've been in their dealership 4 days in a row & they will need to come to my work with any paperwork they need signed to cancel the sale
I also told them I would NOT be back to buy a vehicle from them EVER

Some days later I get a call from my Insurance agent telling me I need to redo my Insurance for my new truck
I tell them the story & say I never signed ANY paperwork to register the truck
My Insurance agent straightens it out....
A while later I get a Satisfaction Survey from Ford...since they think I bought the truck
I told them the whole story & blasted the dealership for what they did

I went & bought a nice Izuzu SUV 4WD w/leather/sunroof, whole Pkg at a decent price
5.5 years later I traded it in on the truck I have now
I'll never go back to that dealership....and I've told a ton of people about what happened

That's the only bad experience I've had trying to buy a vehicle
I've never been in a rush to buy a vehicle......I usually make my offer
If they refuse I Thank them & walk out
Sometimes they decide they will take the offer, sometimes not
One time the salesman called me a week later to sell me the car at my offer
It was near the end of the year & they wanted to make deals
I hemmed & hawed until he took a few hundred more off

However, the process can still be frustrating. I too do not want to spend hours at the dealership buying the truck.

I typically provide my saleslady with all of the details of my order ahead of time. She then enters it and sends me a draft of the order to confirm. Then placed with FoMoCo.

When it comes in, she is certainly attentive, but is also very busy so the process with her is usually an hour in and of itself. Then with the finance guy for lease info or payment info,... that is probably the worse part of the process and can easily take another hour or more (waiting for him to be available and then listening to his spiel and reviewing/checking the docs).

I usually stop them from giving me the presentation regarding the gadgets....I can figure these out or I already know the details.

All in all, it is a decent process, but I would love it a whole lot more if it was QUICK!

I've purchased 3 vehicles in the last 5 months from the same dealer/saleslady.
In follow-up to my post above, yesterday I picked up my 2015 KR and was very pleased with my saleslady--as I always am. Although I mentioned to her that I want my time with the finance guy to be as short as possible. I told her that this is probably the worst part of the transaction for me, so I would like to minimize it and avoid all of the "offers".

To my surprise, she ended up handling all of the paperwork herself while I was out checking out my truck. When I came in, we went through the papers, I signed, and it was easy--this was on a lease and included them cutting me a check for a tradein.

Very pleased.

Don't even pick it up. My last vehicle purchase they drove it 2 hours to me and signed paperwork in my kitchen and they drove home the trade in.

Spent lots of time on the phone with them but paperwork was right and we got a good deal. Probably could have shaved a bit off at the dealer. But they delivered and I didn't have to experience the misery of "let me talk to my manager" wait, etc. My time is worth the extra cost of a few hundred.

Yep. I felt kind of bad for my sales guy. I put that he didn't show me radio controls and sync operation. He didn't and it was because I had an appointment and has no time after signing so I left. I put in the comments of the survey that u wasn't shown because I had to leave but I later found out the way these surveys work and apologized to my sales guy.

Basically, unless they are just incompetent *****, give them all the best ratings. Because these things are either perfect or they fail.

Which simply make these surveys as asinine as it is possible for a survey to be. In my world no service is 100% perfect, there is always room for improvement. At the same time there is a huge difference between a generally good dealership experience and an awful one.

But Ford doesn't care because improvement through survey results is not the intention of them or their dealers. Kickbacks, employee threats, retaliation against customers giving bad reviews ... those are the results of these BS surveys. The most charitable act I can make if I have a good dealership experience is to not complete the survey.
