Dark windshield tint in Texas??
Ok, Texas tint law says you can only have non-reflective tint in the upper five inches of the windshield. How come I see SO MANY vehicles with their entire windshield tinted? I was hoping to have all the windows on my 2015 F150 Truck including the windshield tinted at 30% but the law will not allow me to have this on the windshield. Am I missing something here?

I'm not trying to be rude but anything that would cut down on your ability to see at night especially is not only illegal but dangerous and stupid.

My roommate in college had his windshield tinted. (Maybe 7 yrs ago). It looked good until the day a State Trooper noticed he had cut a spot for his registration sticker and didn't line up the new one right. Made him peel the windshield tint on the side of the HWY.

the law in Texas changed in 2012 and allows UV film anywhere on the windshield without a medical reason, yes below as1 line.
Sunscreening devices can be applied to the windshield if all of the conditions below are met.
Sunscreening devices (opaque) must be applied above the AS-1 line. If there is no AS-1 line, sunscreening devices must end five inches below the top of the windshield.
Sunscreening devices may not be red, amber, or blue in color.
Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a light transmittance value of 25% or more.
Sunscreening devices, when measured in combination with the original glass, must have a luminous reflectance value of 25% or less.
A clear (un-tinted) UV film is allowed anywhere on the front windshield without a medical exemption being required.

i have put a high end 3m film on my windshield great for heat rejection. one officer did pull me over recently and did not give me a citation because i pointed out the law on the website.

My biggest question is what kind of tint is everyone using these days? Seems so many new products have come out that are light years ahead of the old stuff. You don't event need dark tint to get the UV protection needed.
Thank you for posting that...

2. Because not being able to see well out of the front at night is cool...
3. Other dumb reasons...
