Update waiting on Ford
My/our usually-reliable contact in Ford Engineering has not answered phone or email questions about a "new" TSB...... like I said about 2-3 weeks ago the answer was that none would be coming our way.....
Lots of confusion at dealers about this, if you haven't noticed..... as soon as I hear anything, I will post......AZPLAT

I called another larger dealer from an area I used to live, and they seemed more familiar with the issue, but still didn't understand what I meant by the quality of the work. When I explained it to them, they said they haven't had anyone come back with complaints yet, so who knows.

I've noticed. My dealer calls me about once every other week to remind me my parts are in, and I've told them several times to send them back, or whatever they have to do, as I'm not getting the TSB done since I've heard nothing but bad things about the quality of the work, etc. They told me this must be an isolated issue since I'm one of the only people who have called in about it. I told the service manager that this is a widespread issue, and maybe they just haven't had enough people come in about it yet (it's a smaller dealer in my area).

I'll have to look again. I looked the other day and there was white fabric coming from the seat back but didn't seem to be connected to anything under the seat.

No fart cans allowed
OK so the weekly *cough* reminder for those that do not want to read all of the history...
Ford shaved weight from the seats to meet there marketing gimick goal of 700lbs lighter. The seat team took away the intake and exhaust snorkel from the seat back cooling hoping no one would notice. The pilot group of trucks noticed before production and nothing was done. A bunch of users here on the forum started to complain and nothing happened. A few users took to the NHTSA to complain about hot temperatures and children saying "ouch" when getting stuff from the magazine pocket.
During this time Ford was silent. I (SeatGuru) and another forum guy AZPlat got after Ford and somehow managed to get in contact with the engineers. We begged Ford to delay the release of the TSB. We begged Ford to consider exhaust first then intake second. We threw ourselves onto Ford as free labor... At this point SeatGuru had already sent out sample parts to several forum guys and had a pilot group test the design.
Ford then responded with the TSB which I (SeatGuru) got the first TSB installed in the nation. During the install I shared my 3D printed fix with Ford (I even sent a kit with their engineer). I talked at length about my findings and how important it was to get hot air out of the seat.
Since then there have been no true changes to the TSB. Although people say they are getting a new revision there have been none (that I am aware of and I have people checking from the inside for me). There is no further work being done to make the cooling better on this platform and the only potential change is the next refresh (2018 maybe??)
So do the seats work?
-No TSB = NO they will produce heat when in cooling mode for extended periods of time. They will also produce a localized hot spot above the magazine pocket.
-TSB installed = The seats will produce short amounts of cool air but if left on they will steadily creep warmer. The localized hot spot is gone BUT if you have floor heat vents on it will got HOT still.
-SeatGuru Kits = Improved cooling. Still not the best and still not matched to the cushion (butt). Cooling over long periods is better and last longer.

No new TSBs Coming
Me TOO!!..... reason being, it was Tim and I that got the first installs of the TSB..... Tim's in the field, mine in a totally new set of seats that had the TSB pre-installed at "the factory"... both of us had Ford Seat Engineering team tech support on site for the install.... we reported back our experience with the TSB BEFORE it was released to owners. Tim gave you the gospel as to how they worked before/after.
I talked to the Ford Engineering Team Manager just two weeks ago and I think I can report with confidence that there is no field TSB or recommended dealer field action (e.g. shaving foam or other such advice) that they have issued for the problem..... once they released the TSB(s) they felt that the seats performed to their measured standards and only subsequent model year changes/improvements would be forthcoming.
If the current production/TSB flavor of seat cooling does not meet your expectations, the only way to get added improvement is to install Tim's (Seatguru) mod to address both the intake and exhaust improvement.
Give me a TSB # or other document reference and I will be happy to follow up directly with the Ford Seat Engineering Team we worked with..... actually some nice/good guys with a different opinion than ours as to how well the factory/TSB seats "cool". AZPLAT

Seems my contact at Ford was taking some well-deserved vacation, but we talked today..... here is what I can share from our conversation....
There are no new TSBs in the works for our 2015-2016 vehicles. Business as usual for new production vehicles as well..... although there might be some VERY MINOR tweeks over time....but they will not represent what anyone might call a re-design that would or should necessarily be retrofitted into our vehicles.
I also asked about the reference to cutting the seat foam (which one post referenced) as being some kind of service bulletin or such from Ford......NOPE.... the only authorized modification to the as-produced seats in respect to cooling would be the TSB that many of us have already had applied to our vehicle (either later production versions or via field TSB installs thru a dealer)..... period! If the seats still do not meet your expectations, the only added path would be to install Tim/SeatGuru's mod to address the exhaust aspect of the TED..... but that is an individual judgement decision, in my eyes.
I am in constant amazement as to how some legends arise (e.g. cutting the foam) but I think I can unofficially say with great assurance that what I wrote above is 100% accurate.... remember, I am a Forum member like you, not a representative or spokesperson for Ford..... but I do treasure that the Ford Seat Team still corresponds with me to help address rumors and such..... and I will not take that channel for granted. It is what it is!!
Maybe not what folks hoped for as far as news, but that is all I have to report for now.....AZPLAT
