Alright. So I 'drank the Kool-Aid' on the dealership telling me that they'd installed Rev 3 of the part. Silly me. For reference, the part they said was revision 3 and the one they actually installed in my vehicle is the GU5Z*19N550*B. So thats the bad news.

The good news is that atleast now, the back does get chilled far more than it did previously (which was not at all). It is not as cold as the seat bottom but it is noticeable. So an improvement but still not as I'd expect.

I've ordered Tim's kit as I think its very clear already, with tons of evidence, 'customer' reviews of Tim's kit, thermal images, temp readings.....etc etc. Sad that Ford can't fix/won't fix an issue...

Kudos to Tim and AzPlat for the work again. And yes AzPlat... despite the warnings and knowledge, I may very well be the definition of 'insanity' as I gave it a shot with the dealer anyway.

My next custom project for the F150... retrofit in a set of Ram 1500 Limited front seats into the F150...along with the seat AC and heat system!

I may have missed it, but do you know when your truck was built? Mine was built April 2016 and I'm wondering if I have the "Rev 3" parts.

You do have the REV3 parts and they are the exact as the REV2 and the REV1 parts. No exhaust just a nice shield to dump that nice hot air into the back of your seat.

Ahh, got ya. Thought I missed a new development. I'm still planning on putting in the exhaust whenever time permits, hopefully before summer is over haha

There was a much larger thread before this one... hence the title referencing the TSB. In the beginning, there was no TSB.... only denial!

I wrote those posts in hopes of saving new owners/members to the Forum (and Ford/Dealers) from chasing down dead ends..... at least I tried... and I believe that everything I said represents Tim's view, given how much we worked together and time we spent talking on the matter!

Changing the identical parts out multiple times in HOPES that it might improve performance...... tell me again.....what is the definition of insanity!?...smile AZPLAT
I've kinda kept up with the discussion even though I have a '14 with the seats that supposedly work but have not read every post. I admire what you and Tim have done especially the perseverance you have shown. I am not one bit surprised that Ford did not and has not used your fix. I think that admitting that a couple of "outsiders" had a "better idea" would bruise the collective corporate ego which evidently still flourishes.

I still have hope that as the numbers of defective seats increase that continued pressure by the owners will have a positive outcome. IMHO I think you two should explore production of your parts on a larger scale although admittedly I don't know much about how to go about this. The market is much larger then just Ford as GM truck owners are also having the same problems. From what I've read GM has deleted this option for 2017 admitting then that it was a poor design?

A to why, since I don't have the problem seats, I have an interest in this thread. I always root for the underdog. And I have a frustrating problem with my seat(s) and thought I might stumble on the fix. Mine work intermittently. And of course they always work when in for service.

I for one wouldn't hold it against you two if you just walked away from this and continued on with your lives.

Thanks for the recognition folks, but it is Tim that did all the engineering and testing of parts, including 3D printing of them..... I was more focused on getting their attention called to what Tim had found and accomplished.... but yes we worked as a duo with Ford and got them past the denial stage to a TSB and Production change for the F-150 and other vehicles with "sister" seats.

It took some HIGH LEVEL contacts to get the ball rolling and get Tim and myself "anointed" to be able to share Ford Internal Information and let them actually come and install parts on our vehicles in the field.....a brave departure that we suggested they should use more often!!

Together we proposed a more agressive solution be rolled out that would have actually avoided replacing all the TEDs they did ($$$$) and would have addressed the intake and exhaust solution..... simpler and far less costly as it looked to us. For whatever Corporate reasons they had, they chose the path they did....oh well!!

I also attempted to work with the CS folks to use the Forum inputs far more proactively than they do, especially in admitting issues existed and were at least "under investigation". I do not think, despite some high level conversations, that the message or the process change soaked into their minds. We still sadly have the occasional CS Rep come on and urge us to fruitlessly take our vehicle once again to the dealer for what!!?? That part is just not working well and with a little tweeking they could probably turn the Forum into a great Social Media Channel to REALLY improve Ford Quality and Customer Service. Oh well....anyway, just wanting to let especially newbies know that yes Virginia, there is a problem and that sadly if your vehicle is a 2016, the seats will not cool better regardless of how many trips you make to the dealer.... only Tim's kit will offer improvement IF you are unhappy with yours.....AZPLAT

LOLO.... Tim and I are not quitters but in Oct last year I had a heart attack and single bypass (NOT related to this or stress...LOL) and many of us root for us underdogs and try to get improvements where we can.... guess it is my former NASA and IBM background.... yes I was a rocket scientist....smile.... but we did accomplish a lot on the Forum and it is a good way to work towards improvements..... as long as you stay positive which we did working with a good bunch of folks at Ford.... they just have a different drumbeat!!??

Have NOT heard that the cooling seat option is out for 2017.... actually thought it was still going in with only minor changes if any....not sure where you read/saw that.....smile....

Again, thanks for your recognition and ..... never quit fighting....

Best wishes on your bypass recovery.

RE: GM Sierra/Siverado cooled seats. I looked at one of the GM truck forums to see if they were having a better outcome with their seats and one of the posters mentioned that he/she did not see the cooled seat option mentioned in the new model announcements.
