The info I was relayed, to what this TSB involves, is a little different than what's been posted here.

Along with the TED replacement, they are removing one type of padding (I think he said potato sack type material), and replacing with a honeycomb design, with layers on each side.

Are they replacing the TED units with new units with the snorkel, or are they going further and replacing the seat back padding material as well?

I was told the lumbar was blocking flow, and the new honeycomb design solves this....?

I just hope what ever they do, it solves my issue.

srg963,

Is all this in a new TSB or in the 2016 F-150s?

Thanks.

I don't know, sounded like new info to me. I just had them look at my truck last week. Parts are on back order.

A local Ford dealer just received a '16 Lariat 502A SCREW

I'm going over today with my IR thermometer to investigate whether FORD is taking assembly line responsibility for their seat cooling blunder.

I will measure the temps of both seats and look under both for the presence of the needed hardware. Photos and data to follow.

I test drove the 2016 Lariat this morning.

The seats heated up slowly.

When I switched over both seats to max cool the seat bottoms cooled and the seat backs didn't cool.

My 2013 Lariat put the new car to shame. I can actually feel the air blowing through my perforated leather. Not so on Ford's latest product.

I took a photo of the undersides of both front seats. I suspect the mesh section in the middle is the snorkel other posters have discussed.

On a separate note, the inflatable lumber support is way too prominent in it's most deflated setting. I feel like my lower back is being forced into an unnatural curve.
Extremely uncomfortable, IMO.

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Now, today it was the annual trip to grandmas of which my son drives because he takes his dog.

He has a 2014 Explorer. His AC seats work correctly! SO it would be my guess to look at his seats and see how and what setup is in his seats.

I turned my passenger seat on high,a few seconds later I had cool air out of the seat cushion and the seat back, very, very discernible! I also adjusted the lumbar and it had no impact on the air flow out of the back seat cushion. So next time I am at his place, I am going to take a look! I will take a picture and post back.

I saw a article from ford on their seats. They are making them in house, one seat frame for most ford cars and trucks. They have some designers from seat suppliers working for them now. Well they need to start making these seats work like they should, this is very sad to see. Maybe all the current owners with seat problems need to get a lawyer involved. Kind of a group from the site etc. Im looking at the new raptor or lariat for 2017 and I hope they have this taken care of by then.

On a related topic, why is FORD manufacturing these seats with so much of the guts being visible from the rear passengers' points of view?

Can't they attach a skirt or other masking to hide all of the bits and pieces hanging below the front seats? Netting, inventory tags, padding, and wires ought not be plainly visible in a $50,000+ vehicle.

IMO, the "engineers" who designed these seats should be replaced with those possessing a significantly higher degree of talent.

Further, IMO said engineers' supervisors should also be replaced since they had to sign off on the slipshod manner by which these seats were designed and manufactured.

At all of the manufacturing companies where I worked, designing and manufacturing a product which I would characterize as a profound failure, would cause heads to roll (so to speak).

The cost to FORD to have thousands of cars (10's of thousands?) "repaired" is significant. Further, it appears from the posts to this board that the remedy isn't much of a longterm improvement from the crap that Ford released from their factory.

Get used to the new Ford designed seats! They're putting them in the 2016s and because of the overwhelming design, features, comfort and customer satisfaction their going in the new 2017 Super Duty!

Like it or not, they could import the seats from China and they're would be an improvement!

The emphasis on weight reduction and increased profits have taken its toll on the entire design.

But y'all don't get upset, it's only MY single opinion as hundreds of thousands of people really love their trucks.

I have faith that ford can make good seats, but it will take time to fix these issues. The current owners are the ones that need to make ford fix them. Current owners should not have to settle with the seat bottom only cools. Keep on ford guys. Good luck.
