Clunk from rear of truck
#21
Ford Customer Service
I had mine in for service this past week to fix a few issues all but the sound on the leaf springs has been fixed I have owned 2 other F150's and never had this, deal said it was fixed when I picked it up and I got out on the road did the side to side turn at 10 mph and its still there will take it back this week. I looked under the truck looks like they put some grease but I have been told its the leaf springs rubbing together. $65k truck that ford has said to be the best on the planet should not make that noise and folks you can hear it on the outside even more very embarrassing to say the least.
Please send a PM that verifies the year and current mileage of your rigs; I'll see how I can best assist.

Update-potential fix
Phil Long Ford here in Denver has kept the vehicle for two days...
FINALLY THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM:
The clunk sound is coming from the right, rear axle where it is held by the c-clip near the gears. They compared the right axle (near the splines there is a small area that is machined down from the factory) to the left. While I never did see the comparison, apparently the right axle is not machined correctly, off by approximately 1/16'' of an inch; causing the clunk sound when driving over bumps, driveway etc.
Ford has ordered a new right rear axle, left and right gears (to be safe) differential fluid etc.
While it doesn't hurt to drive the vehicle when it is making this noise, I highly recommend to bring yours in (if it's doing this) and have them compare the two axles and have it corrected while it is still under warranty.
HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS EVERYONE- I'll report back once the parts are in from the dealer and they've replaced them.
Thanks,
Dave

Mine does it too. Notice when I'm pulling into my driveway, turning left, inclined, and under 10 miles per hour. Stock suspension, no tailgate step. 4x4 if it matters.
My last vehicle, an FJ Cruiser had a "clunk" noise as well. Turned out to be the drive shaft. The TSB issued resulted in it being replaced; with one from a Lexus.

Yep, same exact problem here. I'd love it if you could post whatever paperwork they give you showing the issue, diagnosis, and repair so I can give it to my dealer as a starting point.

I have the same thing on my truck. Made it to the dealer and they said the noise is coming from the leaf springs. They ordered another set and should have them installed early next week. I dont think the noise was coming from the springs but I will trust them for now.
I will update once the new leaf springs are installed.

UPDATE:
Truck has been at the dealership now for 8 days. Right rear axle, gears and bearings replaced under warranty of course. I'm told the noise is still present, I've yet to drive it as I've been driving a rental vehicle. As frustrating as this has become, it is nice to know that the dealership seems to be trying to take care of the issue. I will post more as it comes available.
Speedwayman12- Can you do the same regarding the rear leaf springs that are being replaced?
Also, has anyone ever had to utilize their respective States "Lemon Law" process?
Thanks all-

Clunk from rear of truck
I've have this exact issue. I told Ford service about it and it goes to my dealer next Thurs for this and other issues.
I just went out and shook my truck. This is not normal. Clearly from the axle and not the leafs.
If I shake my wife's 100k mile Acadia it makes zero noise.
