Not saying that its not a good motor or Turbos are bad but this is the reason I'm getting the 5.0 but not because its a 8 only but because less to fail.

I also ordered 5.0 because an unfounded fear of problems with the turbos. Keep in mind this is just one single problem with a turbo i have seen in the 6 months they have been out.

I would love to see official true statistics on issues with each motor. Until then it is a moot point

keep in mind iv already seen at least one 5.0 motor be replaced. either one can have issue's. Considering how many they have made you cant go by what you see on a forum, if that were the case know one would buy any vehicle cause there would always be something wrong with something.

What was the issue with the 5.0? It was on a 15?

I've only ever owned 1 turbo vehicle in my life. The same thing happened, turbo failed and took the motor out with it. Car was a Subaru Legacy GT. The dealer called it a "catastrophic failure". I called it a lesson learnt, stick to a naturally aspirated motor. Not to say these won't fail but it doesn't have another part with a "if I go, you go attitude"...

So I'm guessing all the thousands of turbo charged diesel powered vehicles should run as fast as they can from those turbo's.....They've only been putting turbo's on everything from aircraft engines to marine engines for over 80 years now.....not reliable at all

They'll have a loaner for me in the morning.
I'll get your regional customer service manager looped in on this, terfos. All I'll need to get started is a private message with your full name, VIN, servicing dealer, and best daytime contact number. I'll get the ball rolling!

I believe this is the one your talking about?
the guy said his 5.0 dropped a valve and blew a hole in the piston. I don't know, I think if I was going to have an engine problem id rather replace a turbo over the entire engine.

Not bashing the 5.0, had one in my 2011 and loved it. Almost went back to it but decided on the 2.7L no regrets.
