Default Changing Gears - Ford Racing 4.10

Anyone with any experience on changing from 3.55 to 4.10?

Would this make sense going from the stock 275/55/20 tires to 285/65/20?

I did it on my old 04 f150 that was running 35x12.50. There was a nice torque gain and gained my mpg back when I drove it like normal. I don't think it's a necessity for the setup you're talking about, but all depends on how you are using the truck. I don't think you'd be unhappy with it, but it is not a cheap job and I don't recommend doing it yourself if you don't have experience. It also voids power train warranty.. I'll be more open to it when my warranty is up.

Pretty sure all 3.5 ecoboost trucks have a 9.75 rear. Those gears won't work for you.

And you're a 4x4, you'd need to change front and rear.

Any way to confirm? Tried calling Ford, but just get stuck in voicemail, directory, hell.

Lots of conflicting info. out there:

http://www.torquenews.com/106/ford-b...weight-savings
"One last key weight saving feature found under the 2015 Ford F150 is the revised 8.8” rear differential, which has been beefed up inside to allow for much heavier towing loads. This allows Ford to use this smaller 8.8” differential rather than the 9.75” unit, shaving 35lbs from the 2015 F150."

The only place I've come across the 9.75" rear axle size is on Ford's info. referencing a "Heavy Duty Payload Package".

All 3.5 EB's have the bigger 9.75 rearend, both 4X2 and 4X4. As mentioned you will have to do the front diff also which is an aluminum version of the 8.8.

You can look under the truck and Google it to figure which you have. Or, I think all trucks that have a foot activated (pedal) parking brake instead of an electronic parking brake have the 9.75 rear.

any of those brands are fine, but I don't know how much experience youll find with people actually swapping them. Yukons I have heard tend to be a little more noisy in the past, but don't know whether that's still the case.
