Default Cabin Air Filter

Has anyone replaced their cabin air filter yet? I appears that the upper glove box tray has to be removed to access the filter. The screws that hold it are behind the wood trim (Platinum). How do you remove the trim to access the screws? I'd rather not experiment and break the trim piece.

I made another video that is hopefully a bit more clear.

On my xlt the trim is just held on with clips. After you drop the glove box down you can reach under the trim piece and feel the clips. I believe to get the pocket out there's two bolts and more clips.

Harder to get to but I'm glad they put a filter in this gen vs my 2012 without. The vents on my 12 were always covered in dust.

You're changing it already? How often should that be changed?

Got it! Thanks for the tip. The wood trim on my Platinum is laminated to a heavy plastic piece I wasn't getting far enough back to get behind the plastic I was only catching the wood trim. There are 5 clips holding that piece in place. They are small but tough. I'm going to bend the tip of a small screwdriver 90 degrees to make removal of the trim easier. The Pocket has two bolts and 2 clips. At 10,000 miles the filter was fairly dirty, but it should go 15-20K.

Allergy sufferers, filters should be changed every 6 months or 12k miles IMO.....I'm due and currently looking for pictured instructions.

Does the truck prompt you when it's time to change the filter?

It does not. I have found on my wife's Edge that 10K miles has been the ideal interval for our environment. Will monitor and most likely follow same interval on the KR. This is highway/ city driving, could certainly see off/ dirt road and country driving increasing the need.

Similar topic, didn't want to start a new thread.
Is there any way to adjust the glove box tension when closed? The right side (nearest the top) has a slight gap from the small dash tray piece. There is a latch on the right side and my glove box has a little slop so that this latch engages too soon and doesn't pull the glove box completely closed. Does anyone know if you can adjust the slop so that the glove box is flush with the dash tray piece and is completely closed?
Also, when going over bumps, the glove box rattles due to it not being completely closed.

Me too. I figured out how to drop the box. (Hint: Take everything out of the box first.) I think I see where the filter goes but I don't see how to get at it.
