So to bring back my old thread. I have quotes for two 2016 Platinum's in front of me. One for a 3.5lTT and one for the 5.0. Still on the fence.

I'm concerned about fuel milage but want a supercharger??? That's funny. I fully support the supercharged 5.0 though!! Go for it.

The epa rating on the 3.5eb is about 10% worse than the 5.0. My experience is that the whipple knocks about another 10% off of that even driving conservatively, so you're looking at 20% worse mileage, or 4 mpg. Now I've always been able to get good mileage out of a vehicle so take this as such, but I'm 500 miles into my current tank and averaging 20.8 on pure gas with the whipple.

thanks for the numbers. I assume you need premium fuel with a blown 5.0? I had an SVT Lightning previously and always used premium

Yes you need premium fuel. I had a Whipple on my 06 5.4 and the mpg was the same as naturally aspirated as long as I didn't get into boost. When you're in boost, naturally more fuel is applied. The boost is addictive and you won't be able to keep your foot out of it.

Op,

You may have already seen this...if not check it out. It's the Hennessy F150.

I ran 89 in my lightning with no issue. Whipple recommends 91 minimum in the 5.0 truck kit. Oddly, they also recommend 91 for the mustang that has more compression (.5) and more boost (1 psi).

I recommend Googling for "problems with Hennessy" before considering.
