Best time to order for April/May delivery.
I plan on trading my 2005 F-150 for a 2015 F150 early next year. When I got this truck I had to pick something off the dealers lot because the dam dodge I had was ready to die. This time I'm getting a new truck because I want to, not because I have to. And as I am retiring in just over four and a half years from now and plan on keeping the new truck for at least ten years, I want to order it exactly the way I want it.
So without making this an even longer post I won't go into the many reasons why it would be best for me to take delivery in April or May of 2015, I'll just ask if any of you good people can recommend when you think the best time for me to place my order.
Just in case it makes any difference I'm looking at a XLT super cab 4x2 in Bronze Fire with Chrome appearance package (86B), Medium Light Camel cloth interior, and a 5.0L V-8. Still trying to decide on the rest of the options.

I literally just got back from my dealer with the same question. After talking to him, I'm ordering early March for a May delivery.

Remember that the Dearborn plant is currently re-tooling everything. The Kansas City Truck Plant starts in January.
Basically, Ford will not be churning out 2015 F150's at full productivity (both plants) until February. If their is heavy demand (which I think there will be), it might be longer. Just throwing that out there for consideration....

An 8-12 week window should work for you, so plan accordingly. Also realize that with the late launch and expected high demand, your incentives (i.e. rebates) will likely be awful or non-existent until later in the year.

I'm looking at the same kind of deal, but probably targeting June. Can't even guess at a time to order now, and will start to think about it in February. My thoughts are to wait as long as possible to make sure they have enough time to get the production kinks worked out.
