Ha, that will be fun on some of the insanely curvy back roads around here.

I love adaptive cruise and I refused to buy a new vehicle without it - which is why I've been waiting 3 years to get a new truck - but it does do some peculiar things once in a while. My biggest annoyance with Ford's system is it's tendency to disable itself with a sensor blocked message - without the sensors actually being blocked. At this point you either need to drive without cruise control, pull over and stop/start the engine or change the vehicle setting to conventional cruise.

This doesn't happen very much any more on my MKX but there are scenarios where it will almost always happen, such as locations near military bases (military radar I assume).

Default Da HUD

The F150 has a heads up display? What else is on it?
Its not like a "real" HUD that displays things like speed and other parameters. Its actually a row of red LEDs that light up and reflect off the windshield when the collision warning sensor detects that you're about to have a 'significant emotional event'. This is accompanied by an audio cue that lets the wife know its time to start 'coaching' you about your driving.

The manual tells you how to turn off one of these things but not the other.

If you have ACC and lift or level your truck you MUST take the truck to the dealer to have the ACC unit leveled or the system will not work correctly. Just an FYI.

When you're driving, let's say at 70mph, how much distance does it put between you and the car in front of you?

How does it work in rush hour? I know it doesn't work under 12mph but if the traffic is over 12mph does it resume?
Don't forget if you order the adaptive cruise control add the parking assist because it will be free plus $60 back. There is a $500 rebate if you order both and the park assist is $440 or something like that.

At least I think this deal is still in place!

This has happened to me at least three times on the interstate.

I'm in the left lane with no vehicles ahead of me and as the front of my truck comes abreast of the gap between the wheels the system suddenly decelerates for about a half second and then resumes the set speed and continues to pass.

This has not happened while passing typical 18 wheel semi towing a 40 or 53 foot "dry" cargo van, just the ones mentioned.

.

i wonder if the airflow coming from the gap in the truck's road wheels is somehow being sensed by the cruise radar as an obstacle?

Just wondered if anybody else had experienced this. It's surprising when it happens, but I kinda expect it now when passing some big trucks.

I had exactly the same thing happen today as I was passing a gas tanker (Simi Type). It's a pretty drastic and abrupt change in speed/braking

The same thing happen to me once as I was passing a tanker and again when I was passing a double dump truck OMG to me it can be dangerous if I had not read this forum I would not had any idea what is wrong. I wonder if Ford is going to have some patch or repair for it. Seems an unaware person could overact and crash..

I didn't get adaptive in my truck but my other two cars (nonFord) have it and I can tell you that they will do these things also.

Yep, my Challenger does it.

If your too close to the vehicle your passing is when it happens the worse. helps to back off or stay further back.

My 2013 Cadillac XTS had Adaptive Cruise control never once did it, so I was surprised when I read about it, then I thought it was a fluke until I experienced it myself. So now when I come on tankers or double rigs I move over or cancel Cruise until I pass.. Not really that bad a thing, in a otherwise totally awesome truck. I cant tell you how many times I walked out to my truck in the parking lot to find someone walking around it, waiting to ask me about it. Ok did run into a jerk tapping on the fender pressing on it.. OMG what happen to respect for others property..
