Default Adaptive Cruise Control 2015 F-150

I am the owner of a 2015 F-150 Platinum EB FX4:

Has anyone had a problem while using the Adaptive Cruise control when passing an 18 wheeler?

I have just over 4K miles and it has sensed a collision and suddenly applied the brakes while passing an 18 wheeler 5 times. There was no close collision, I simply broke the cruise, depressed the gas to get around him and then resumed the cruise again. Luckily there were no cars behind me because I would have be rear-ended if there were. I believe the sensor is sensing false information, I have called to dealers and spoke with them and naturally they say they have not heard of this problem.

Anyone?

Thank you,

Yes, a few have had this problem.

Adjust your settings to 1 or 2 bar following distance, as I believe the higher following distance causes problems.

I traveled from Missouri (where I bought the truck) to Ohio using the feature on 1 bar setting. I had read about the issues here so was careful when passing tankers and semis while it was engaged. Happy to report thus far, there were no issues. Have another road trip in September and we will see how things go

When you pass a truck on a curve this will happen because the beam is seeing the truck in the other lane, thinking that you are closing on it.
Maybe a second generation will follow the position of the steering wheel instead of a straight line.

My 2011 Edge does the same, scares the you know what out of you the first time it happens, adjusting the distant setting does help a little.

Thank you all for the replies. I will look into changing the settings.

bgs133, 2 of the times the truck did this was on a curve with the 18 wheeler and I was thinking the same as you stated. The other 3 times I was on a straight road.

Thanks,

I don't have this on a truck, but I do on 2 cars, seems random really how it senses and works. Sometimes Im really close and it won't active and othertimes it catches me off guard because it sensed something not there and hits the brakes.

Better it see nothing and slow down than......

There's a whole thread on this on here somewhere. I've got mine set on one bar, I feel the others leave way to much of a gap. I also have the sensitivity setting set to Normal, where it was set to High when I got the truck. Knock on wood, it hasn't happened again where it slammed on the brakes going under a bridge and I've yet to have it happen passing a tanker truck.
