The IDS solution would be good for those without the Sony system. There's no way to eliminate the sound via wires in that setup.

^ This

The wire setup was so easy that I wouldn't bother going through the trouble of trying to get a dealer to do it. After I spent half an hour figuring out what to do on my truck I did it in 5 minutes on my dad's Ecoboost King Ranch.

Default Active Noise Control (Fake Engine) Disable How-To

Well I picked up my truck from service this morning and asked about the fake engine noise. As expected service guy didn't know anything about it. I then showed him pic of ids screenshot and mechanic was standing there, asked me if I wanted to try it. 5 minutes later it's disabled

Yea those Service guys are either dumb or they just play dumb alot... I understand that they probably don't want to deal with it or do it for you even though they are probably already using the toughbook and have IDS up and can do it in a minute for you.

Well I just got done doing this mod and since I sent back that Lisle Ford Pin tool (did not like it) I just made me a pin removal tool with a large paper clip. Just bend one leg down and start filling one side at the pointy end now you have a little bevel to stick into the front of the plug and unlock the pin.

Again a BIG THANKS to i8iridium again for the prints and researching this for us...

Have not tested yet but I have 110% confidence in him. More so since we were both in the US Air Force. They train there guys very well...

Here is my Ford Pin Removal Tool...

Pat. 123456789.1234 You have to give me .25 for every pin removed from your truck. LOL Just Kidding. Happy Pin Pulling...

The problem with settings in IDS is they are different for different vehicles and there is no manual for IDS that says what settings are available for what vehicles. The only way a tech is going to know is from playing or word of mouth.

I just need a day to screw with an IDS. I'd probably have my truck so hosed up, it wouldn't even move anymore. lol

Default Engine Enhanced Sound is now gone. And I don't miss it at all.

I was in for the cruise control/collision avoidance problem this morning when I saw this post with the screenshot.

Needless to say a picture is truly helpful in these situations.

I showed the pic to the service writer who showed the tech who was working the issue on my truck.

Not only did they fix the cruise/collision avoidance issue in less than two hours they turned off the engine noise ..and even washed my truck.

This is not my hometown dealer, this was another dealer 50 miles from where I live (big dealer compared to my hometown store).

I don't think I will be going back to my hometown dealer anytime soon, since I checked every week for 7 weeks and "still no as-built data file, sorry".

The dealer I went to today had no problems sorting it all out.

Oh, and when accelerating it all just sounds normal. Not loud, no turbo whistle, not much of anything really. I guess the cabin Active Noise Reduction is keeping the inside quiet so you don't notice as much.

I have heard a little turbo when the window is down...

I can confirm this is the most appropriate fix for the fake engine sound since it only gets rid of the fake sound without turning off the cabin noise cancellation and doesn't involve pulling any wires.

There is no other cabin noise cancellation. Pulling the wires vs disabling with IDS will do exactly the same thing.
