Awesome

I would have went with the 3.5 instead of 5.0 if I knew the steps when I bought mine

Great work

No, you have to remove the pair. I tried just the positive wire, and there was a lot more hiss in the front speakers. Once I pulled both it was silent.

This is easily the best info yet on the 2015.

If this or something similar works on a Lariat 501a (no sony) I would have kept my 501a (maybe).

Either way, I think there are gonna be a lot of happy truck owners out there. Even if you don't want to upgrade the audio (like I tried).

I still love my new 5.0 - but I probably would have learned to love the 3.5 EB if I could of turned this completely ignorant, over compensating, stupid, fake, engine noise off.

Thanks again OP

I think it's great that the source of the modified sound track has been tracked down and squelched.

The only problem is that I can see is that the noise cancellation that's designed to keep the cabin quieter is now probably disabled as well.

So it's a bit of a trade-off and it depends on what you're willing to put up with as to whether you'll take the time to do this.

Still, I want to thank you for tracking this issue down to it's source and educating everyone on how to fix it if they desire to do so.

I really don't know how much, if any, noise cancellation has been removed. For some reason, I think their noise cancellation was the addition of this enhanced engine sound. When i tested with the head phones, I was simply revving the engine in the garage. I had that engine noise in my headphones. I didn't drive it that way to see if there was any other sounds as well. Also, if there was noise cancellation, wouldn't that require microphones someplace in the cabin to sample the noise level? The only mic I'm aware of is for the sync, and that only goes to the sync module, not the APM or the DSP.

Personally, on my drive to work, I didn't notice any additional noise in the cabin. Seem just as quiet as before. I just noticed that I didn't have the enhanced engine sound. If i get time this week, I might rig up a switch like was mentioned by lankey and try toggling it on and off while driving. That might answer some more questions.

Is the connection plug a typical Molex? What pin puller did you use? Great sleuthing BTW!

Sorry to hear you didn't keep your EB. I responded to your other post, and then realized that you had the 501a. Your original thread got me on the trail for this mod. I wish it was as easy for the non-Sony trucks.

I thought it was only the Sony-equipped trucks that had it??

Nope sorry. Any Lariat or higher with the 3.5 EB has it.
