Default 7 pin connector trailer charger

I'm working with a 15 XLT Sport with the tow package and cannot get the trailer charge circuit working on the 7 pin connector. On the 14 and older trucks a relay and fuse came with the truck that needed to be installed to get the charge circuit working. This 15 didnt come with any relays or fuses and with the truck running I'm not getting 12 volts at the 7 pin. Owner's manual says nothing about it. Did anyones truck come with a relay or fuse and/or get the charge circuit working?

Your owners manual has a list of fuses and relays and probably a diagram showing where they are. Look there for the "Trailer Tow Battery Charge" relay and fuse.

The Fuse Specification Chart, which starts on page 288 of the owners manual doesn't list "Trailer Tow Battery Charge", or any other mention of the 7-pin +12v.

Thanks for the RTFM suggestion, but it doesn't help the OP or those of us that will need it.

Asked my dealer about it when I picked up my truck. Got the deer in the headlights look. Nobody knew the answer to my question, but assured me they would get an answer and make any needed changes. That was December 23...still waiting.

Rich33Y - I searched the online manual and you are correct. It does mention a battery+ orange wire on the circular trailer wiring connector. Perhaps one of the fuse or relay numbers not mentioned is what we're looking for. Without a factory wiring diagram, I don't know where else to look. Maybe someone could go to a dealer and ask to look at the wiring diagram.

Did they wire the 7 pin to power the backup lights to the trailer instead of Aux power on the center pin? Fuse 87 is for trailer backup lights. I've seen this a couple of times. Not sure which pin you are trying.

I'd be very interested in hearing if you get this problem solved. My truck with tow package is still on order, but I have a travel trailer with 2 on board 12V batteries that are supposed to get charged by the tow vehicle via the 7 pin connector. Is everyone with a 2015 experiencing this same issue?

In trying to research this I came across an interesting guide on towing and payloads.

Doesn't answer the original question, but it has lots of useful information in it.

Thought I'd share.....

If your truck has the tow package, it should come with the fuse, relay, and trailer brake controller pigtail in the glove box. If it did not, the dealer owes you that stuff. It comes in a bag with instructions.
Both my 2011 and 2013 came with the packet in the glove box. All 3 parts cost something like $90 in Canada FYI
