36 Gallon Tank Problem

36 Gallon Tank Problem
Experienced the same problem that has been mentioned before with the 36 gallon tank.
I was delivering a grill to my sister and brother-in-law and backed into their driveway with approximately an 1/8th tank still remaining and showing 50 miles to empty. Shut the truck off as I didn't just deliver and run.
Their driveway has about an 8%-10% grade, but I forgot to verify this with the off-road screen on the 8" info display. To be clear, the nose of the truck was pointed down the hill when parked.
When I went to leave, it fired up, but shut off immediately. I gave it one more try and got the same thing. I was able to get it into neutral when it fired up the second time though and coast it down the driveway to a more level surface, where I fired it up while rolling and drove off. Once running, I got the low fuel message and the DTE was showing around 20 miles. The DTE was dropping about a mile every 1/10th of a mile, but the fuel guage itself was slowly showing more and more fuel. It went from completely empty, to showing a sliver (yellow) and then eventually showed about an 1/8th of a tank again and back to the normal blue color. By the time I got to the station the DTE had also stabilized and was showing 30+ miles.
I filled it completely and only 29 gallons could go in, which means I still had roughly 7 GALLONS left in the tank and this happened....
Be very careful parking on hills with the 36 gallon tank and anything less than a 1/4 full.

Just don't run yer tanks that low. Not good fer fuel pump cooling anyway.

Owner/driver error(s) .....
.
- allowing fuel to be so low.
. - trusting the accuracy of the fuel display readouts. *They're SWAG (Scientific Wild *** Guessing) at best due to variables beyond the control of the sensors.
. - parking on an incline so that fuel is away from pick-up.

I have seen conflicting information about whether the 'extended range fuel tank' is 33 or 36 gallons.
Can anyone verify they have put more than 33 gallons of gas in their tank at a fill-up?

33 was a misprint and was corrected in most sources. It's 36.

While we're on the topic of fillin' tanks, it may be prudent to remember NEVER to keep clicking to eke out every last drop @ fill - let the pump shut off - once. The filler neck is not fer storing fuel, lol.
Otherwise you'll pekker ye EVAP system but good and eventually throw codes.
That's in ye man-well too.
