I think 11.68" wide tire on our factory wheels are about as far as you can go before you rub the UCA. Different on every truck of course but an actual width of 12.5" will definitely rub the UCA with +44 8.5" wheels.

Doing some more research into the Ridge Grapplers as an option and found a guy with the same size I'm looking at on a level kit. He has aftermarket wheels though. I really don't know crap about wheel offset and all that. I just saw that he said to fit the 35x11.5x20 Ridge Grapplers, he had to "spread the crash bars a bit with a porta power, and a little plastic trimming but nothing major." I refuse to do any of that just to make a tire fit.

Here's the thread:
https://www.f150forum.com/f31/nitto-...er-35s-361636/

I'm hoping the reason he had to trim and spread the crash bars is because of his aftermarket wheels and the offset of them being different from the OEM PVD's that I have.

I have 35x12.5 BFG's with a 2" level on +18 offset wheels and don't rub. But I also swapped front crash bars from side to side, otherwise I would have rubbed. The rears and UCA's clear just fine.

I am thinking of going back to factory wheels, those 20" PVD chrome wheels from the Lariat's and King Ranch are just sooooo nice. I'm not a big fan of aftermarket wheels, I have no idea why I bought what I have. I don't want to rub with 35x12.5's, but a 285/65 is like $75 a tire MORE and too skinny. Ughhhhh.
I agree about the 20" PVD Wheels. Initially after I got my truck, I was thinking about black wheels with a little bit of silver in them. These factory 20" PVD's have started to grow on me though and I actually like them alot now. I'm probably just going to keep them now and just save that money. There's a King Ranch somewhere on here with a 4" Lift and the factory PVD wheels with some Toyo's (I think) and it looks soooo clean!

I guess the title of the thread should now be "35x11.5x20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers" lol. I hope I can still run the Ridge Grapplers in that size without any other modifications. I don't see why not if the Trail Grapplers would fit.

I have 285 65 20 (I guess 35x11.5?) and they are obviously narrower than a "35" but still look pretty good. I'm on 20x10's with -24 so that helps quite a bit. Previously I had a 35" mud tire and they were noisy, heavy and too wide.

BUMP

Just trying to figure out why the guy in the other thread claimed he had to do modifications to the crash bars to fit the tires on 20" wheels. Maybe someone can better explain to me the difference in offset and if thats why.

Crash bar modification usually happens in cases where the tire (not the wheel) is huge, and therefore rubbing the bar just from sheer size, or the wheel has a very negative offset and rubs when turning.

I understand why the modification would need to be done, but this is something I refuse to do lol. My question revolves more around why a bunch of people say that my 2016 xlt fx4 with a RC Leveling Kit and 20" PVD wheels should be able to run 35x11.5x20 Ridge Grapplers just fine without any modifications but the guy in the thread I posted a link to had to modify in order to run the same size tire. Is it because the offset of his aftermarket wheels is not as large as the offset of the factory wheels? That's the part that is confusing me. Thanks for your input though.

I don't know what thread or post you're talking about, but the factory wheels are a +44 offset. The less of that number, and into the negatives, means the wheel is being pushed farther out. The more the wheels are pushed out, the more they'll rub on your crash bars and fender. If you're keeping the factory wheels, then a 35x11.5 with a level SHOULD work just fine and not rub anything. Most posts I read about people doing 35x12.5's with a level on factory wheels don't rub the crash bars because of the positive offset (the wheels are sunk in). I read a few that rubbed the upper control arms though, but you shouldn't have that problem with a 11.5" wide tire.

Post #12 on this thread has the link to thread I was talking about. I just wanted to try to be absolutely sure and see if there's anyone out there running the exact same setup as me without any issues to make me a little more confident before I pull the trigger on this size tire. Thanks for helping to explain the offset though!
