Default 3.5L Ecoboost or 5.0L V8?

I will admit something here. My family has 3 Chevy's at my house. Ok the one isn't bad, a 2014 C7 Corvette. Anyhow.

I just graduated high school couple of months ago been working all summer, and been saving money before that as well, I have enough for a down payment now just making sure I can afford monthly payments and insurance etc before buying the F150.

I want to get off my awful Sonic, I love the way the Chevy V8's sound, does the Coyote V8 sound good too?

85% of my driving is city with 15% being highways, which the highways in my area are extremely hilly and curvy.

Which engine should I get? 3.5L V6 Ecoboost or the Coyote V8? and which one is more reliable?

Thanks!

You didn't say anything about towing and you already said you like the V8 sound.

5.0

My 5.0 sounds better than my 2014 5.3 did. Both stock and with the same 14" magnaflow. Get 5.0 with 3.73s and you will be happy.

Yes the 5.0 sounds amazing, and is quite a bit quicker than a Silverado with a 5.3. As far as "should I get a 5.0 or a 3.5 ecoboost?" That is a can of worms! That is gonna start another 50 page debate lol. My advise is to go drive them both and make your own decision. That's what I did. You are going to get replies on this thread saying one or the other is the only choice, and one or the other is junk! Your head will spin! Go drive them and decide from there. They are both great choices. Don't forget to try out the 2.7ecoboost. That little thing moves!

Go to college, buy what you want when you graduate...

Many threads already answer this question.

Don't forget the gas expense as you'll be eating a lot more of it over your Sonic. But if you're set on getting one, get what you want.

Life comes at you quickly after high school. Remember that at some point you're probably going to have to pay rent, insurance, gas, food, money for "fun", repairs, clothes, etc..

Is a $500/month truck payment a good idea at this point in your life?

The day I turned 18 I went out and bought a used 3 series BMW. I can tell you, my life the following 3 years would have been a hell of a lot more comfortable had I not been spending $390/month on car payments, $80/month on full coverage, etc...

Point of my story is, just because you can afford the monthly payments doesn't mean you can "afford" the truck, you know?

Seriously, just drive them both. Some love the V8, some love the ecoboost. There's really no bad engine choice with this truck.

I drive an ecoboost and would buy another if I needed another truck. If the engine note is most important, go with the V-8. The ecoboost is quiet.
