Where at in LA? I went with the 5.0

First off, the 5.0 is no more "simplistic" than the 3.5 eco, the 3.5 eco is not some kind of superman engine compared to the 5.0. Believe it or not, V8 engines were towing plenty of heavy trailers before the eco engines came along.

I own an eco and I drove both to determine which one I wanted...asking a forum such as this for advice on which engine to choose? no way!
If you want to do any work on your engine , I'd think the 5.0 would be a lot easier to work on - I have a EB 3.5 and you can't even see the accessory belt with all the turbo plumbing let along get at anything. I'll be picking up my 5.0 in a couple days so I'll let you know. I also know that the 3.5 makes a lot of strange noises and not just turbo the turbos spooling up. I got tired of worrying about if something was going to fail after the warranty ran out.

I have a 2011 EB and one thing I would not call it is slow - especially going up a hill. I have a 2014 Mustang GT and I find it easier to drive the Mustang slow compared to driving the truck.

I've had the EB (2011) and up to 50,000 miles I loved it - not one problem with it. After 50k, it started costing me money - first with the spark plug miss which is well documented and now I'm thinking the vacuum pump is starting to go since it makes a strange sound on startup that goes away after a minute. The fuel milage also is also all over the place - I can get 22 on a country trip but my usual drive to work - about 70% country/ 30% city gives me 15-16 mpg. Also, I've found i get better milage using 89 octane. Since I'm out of warranty I decided to trade it in on a 5.0. I have a 5.0 Mustang and love it and find it easy to get 20+ mpg without even trying. I'm getting the 3.55 gearing and it was hard to find - most of the 5.0s are coming through with the 3.31 gears. You also save a few bucks compared to the 3.5 EB. I think i'll keep the stock exhaust - I kind of like a quiet truck, I can get the Mustang out if I want to wake up the neighbors.

So far I love my Lariat Screw 502a Ecoboost 3.5L truck.

They should just re-name it eGoboost, though. There's nothing 'eco' about it when it comes right down to it...

I have the same decision to make as far as the 3.5EB or the 5.0 but I will be towing. I have read a few times about the fake sound throught the speakers. Is this really true, or am I missing something. If so, can it be turned off? Feel stupid for asking but like I said if read it a few times.
