2016 Whine at 50mph under light acceleration

My '16 is doing the same thing
I have a 5.0 sport 4x4 7k and it's making that noise between 43-53mph. It's not very loud but once I hear it I can't stop hearing. Starting to drive me a little nuts. Any word on the exhaust noise?? Haven't taken mine in yet still trying to figure out what it is.

I swear that I just heard a whine this very morning, and that was before reading this post. I am going to have to pay closer attention. I thought I might have heard a clunk a couple of times too, but I am still getting used to the week old truck. Anyway I have the 3.55 locker too.
As for Truck quality issues, all makers have their faults. I just got rid of my 2016 Tacoma which has a total POS drive train. The engine sounds like a diesel it's so noisy. And Toyota is supposed to be the gold standard? Yeah ok....

Took mine in yesterday for a whine that started at about 2400 miles. It was initially only noticeable around 40-50 mph, but became audible from 20mph+. Dealer stated it is a pinion bearing in the front differential that is causing the noise. Supposed to get the truck back tomorrow.

Glad you were able to get problem fixed. How many miles on your truck? I'm somewhat concerned myself on issues some are having with rear-ends. I know others as well as myself have pinion / transmission angles out of spec's possibly causing vibration problems. I'm not sure to what extent , but this misalignment could lead to premature wear and failure to gears and bearings, as well as transmission failure.

EdB, service dept ran it up to 40mph on the rack, tech stated "noise specifically coming from the pinion bearing area, removed both front axle halfshafts, and removed front differential assembly, disassemble front differential, found the pinion bearings over heated due to being over tightened. Replaced both pinion bearings and races, crush sleeve, and oil baffle. Replaced pinion seal and tightened to spec, filled with fluid". Thus far the problem has been resolved. Hopefully your situation isn't drawn out, and resolved in a timely manner for you.

Thanks for update. Glad to hear your truck has been fixed and hopefully no more problems. My problem is in rear differential. Hopefully Tech today will acknowledge.
