One of the guys on the Raptor forum crewed for the silver RCSB.

Can you get one in a Raptor, not yet. The speculation is that they will offer the Eco in the Raptor along with the reduction in weight in 2016.

Why not make a new 6.2?

I'd love an all aluminum 6.2 with a better intake and cams but Ford is moving away from the 6.2 in the F150.

Then it wouldn't be a Raptor. The Eco finished the Baja 1000 but was DNFed (did not finish) because it took too long. I'm pretty sure Ford is not going to compromise their Raptor brand with an engine that was DNFed in the Baja 1000.

If they put an Eco in it, might was well call it something else, because a Raptor in ain't.

The DNF was due to to broken suspension, it had nothing to do with the engine.

The point of the Raptor is off road prowess not drag racing. The 5.4 that came in the first Raptors had less HP/TQ than the Eco - that in itself invalidates your argument.

What makes a Raptor is it's suspension not its engine. Yes, folks want the top dog engine if they are going to fork out 60k for a truck but like I posted earlier - if the truck comes with the highest hp/tq engine offered, who cares if it is a 6 or an 8.

I'm not saying your opinion is invalid - if you want a big v8 then you want a big v8. I respect your opinion.

The position I'm countering is that the Raptor won't sell with an Eco. Folks said that about the F150 and look how well they are doing.

You are comparing the regular F150 with the Raptor. Two different markets and target audiences. Ford has to protect the brand. It's not about making sense. Its about protecting margins. Raptors dont sell for $10-15K off MSRP for a reason. Ford and SVT spent a lot of money and effort in building a brand. Theyre not going to risk that brand with a flavor of truck that DNFed Baja, whatever the reason.

Go watch "Born in Baja" and then think about how Ford marketing could possibly dig themselves out of that hole to put out a v6 Raptor.

It aint gonna happen.
